Hi!
DD’s team coach just announced schedule for a state cup and my other DD is doing presidents cup. I had no idea these were a thing. Which one is more competitive? By name I’d say state cup is more prestigious but it seems that the ECNL/GA bunch in this forum always say it’s worthless because their child’s team isn’t playing so it’s not a real high level. So, avoid ECNL / GA battles and just let me know from your experience what is the better option and which one can take you to a national platform in the summer? TIA! |
| State Cup is the higher tournament. President Cup is usually for second teams or smaller clubs. |
| Some ECNL teams do enter state cup. If you win your state cup, you then go to regionals and then to Nationals. If someone says this road isn't competitive, they are lying to you. Plain and simple. If they say, that not the very best teams enter, there can be truth to that. |
| Five years ago, State Cup was where the best A teams competed. Presidents Cup was for B teams. When ECNL took off, ECNL teams rarely participated. The same for GA teams. Now with ECNL II, not even B teams from the top clubs participate. Now for teams that aren't in ECNL and GA, State Cup can offer good competition but we can't pretend that state cup includes the best teams. |

Have y’all missed that video shared in one of the threads about ECNL?
If that my friends is supposed to be the best of the best in the country then holy fk… it explains a lot. |
Yes one video of one game with CESA (notorious kickball club) is a representation of the entire ECNL league. Come on man… |
I really did not see anything else on the other side of the ball. |
|
It’s a tournament, that’s all.
|
Agreed. CESA and Arlington are mirror image of each other. |

I don't think that means what you think it means. |
