Langston (former Lee Hwy) plan in Arlington- why is this a good idea?

Anonymous
I don't want to spark a huge debate, but I want to better understand both sides. From what I understand the two groups are basically:

1) The "missing middle" side: pushing for more affordable, smaller, denser housing options so that the teachers/firefighters/etc. in Arlington can afford to live here, and
2) The "responsible growth" side: arguing that the current plans don't account for the strain on schools, infrastructure, storm water drain-off, tree canopy, etc.

Is that generally right?

Are there any other arguments FOR this project? Is there a good resource to read a balanced view on the pros/cons?

You “don’t want a debate”, then what are you doing? LOL.

There was an article i just read, maybe in Arlington News Now, about how the "missing middle" is NOT about affordability.

Pretty much. It won’t make #1 come to fruition, fwiw.
