| I sent specs on the hybrid plug-in I wanted to 7 dealerships (in hopes to order from the factory, which is an option they offer.) Only two wrote me back, one offering it at MSRP, the other working up the offer. What happened to the others? And am I supposed to be paying list for a plug-in hybrid these days? |
| There is a new car shortage. They don’t have to reply because there demand is really high right now. |
| But are they still looking to sell cars or not? I’m not clear why they wouldn’t respond. |
Because they have people coming there in person and the dealership is likely focusing their energies on them. |
Exactly. Going back and forth with you over email is more work than dealing with the people coming in person. |
If you can get it at MSRP, grab the keys and go These are not normal car-shopping times |
No not true. They sell cars like this all the time. Most have full time internet specialists. OP my guess is either no stock or price is too high. |
What price is too high? |
| You’d be lucky to get a PHEV at sticker these days. Many dealers are adding 5-10k or more. |
What? Is this the general consensus? |
My sister flew out to visit our parents & get a car at MSRP, then drove back (a two-day trip) rather than pay 10K over, which was what dealers were doing where she lives. |
| No stock, overpriced vehicles, in person business snaps up whatever stock does show up. They don’t need to play your heckling over email game. |
They don’t have cars to sell. |
| Sellers market now OP. That strategy only works normal times not now. |
| They don't need your business. MSRP is the lowest most can get these days and that's without the hassle of a custom order that might sit on their lot if you back out. |
