Infertility Support and Discussion

So my DC is 14 months old and I breast fed her until 12 months and also took the progestin-only pill for birth control. It took 5-6 weeks for me to get my period after I stopped breast feeding and came off the pill. I figured that my cycle would reset as soon as I had that first period back to my lifelong usual cycle of 26 days, but now I'm at 30 days and still no period. Pregnancy test negative. Did anyone else's cycle change to a different schedule after they had a baby? And how long did it take other mom's who breast fed a whole year for their periods to settle into a new pattern? I'm just feeling more pressured since I'd like to get pregnant again.
Thanks! |
| My cycles also changed after I had a baby. I had DS 19 months ago, and prior to that my cycles were pretty much 28 days, like clockwork. I EBF for 7 months, but I got my period when DS was 5 months. It never got back to being regular, and my cycles were at times 35 days. I went to the GYN, because I was a bit concerned, but apparently anything under 36 is still normal. I guess it is, because I am now 12 weeks pregnant! I will say though, that in TTC this time, I had to be much more careful about temping, OPKs, etc., because it was always unclear when I was ovulating. FWIW, I got pregnant on the second month trying (MUCH quicker than with DC #1). Good luck! |
