Leather or cloth seats?

Anonymous
I’m trying to decide between cloth and leather seats. We will be keeping the car for at least 10 years and we have young kids. Which should we choose?

Leather hands down. I don’t see what argument there would be for cloth other than money? Cloth smells bad and stains

Leather. No question.

I’ve never bought a car with cloth seats.

I have because I’m old. You definitely do not want cloth seats.

Leather is def easier to clean. It gets hotter though. Most cars now use fake leather fyi. I looked into this when I bought my lady car because I didn’t want dead animal skin seats.

Last car… not lady car

Leather seats get hot in the summer, cloth seats don't. However, leather seats are definitely easier to clean.

My prior car had leatherette and it was soooooo awesome!! Nothing damaged those seats. I scrubbed and used magic erasers on them. Wish couches were made of that stuff

This. Everything is a trade off. Leather is easier to clean, but it’s colder in winter and hotter in summer. Back when I was single and the only person in my car, I was happy with cloth because it was comfortable and I kept my car clean. Now I’m older with kids and I can afford heat seaters, so that makes the winters better, and I have messy kids so the leather is better for me. So I’d say it depends on your circumstances.

Thanks all! So brown or black leather? (Car is grey).

I'm as cheap as the day is long. My last 2 vehicle purchases had over 100k miles on them and am so glad that they have leather seats. More comfortable, more durable and easier to clean. I could never keep my cloth seats clean.

I still remember our sales guy at VOB BMW telling us that we could not get brown leather with our gray car because “it’s so ugly” in his extreme Turkish accent.

I got black leather on my most recent car after avoiding it for years because I thought it would be too hot. It’s not that much worse than any other leather and looks great.

Black. I have an eleven year old Merz with leather seats that still looks great. Doesn’t show any stains.

I would do black with a grey car.
