Milestone birthday from afar

Anonymous
My mom is turning 70 in a couple of months. My parents, sister and I are all in different countries and travel to be together is not possible right now because of the pandemic.
Suggestions for how to celebrate from afar?

A dear family friend turned 90 last year. Because of the pandemic his daughters couldn’t throw him a big party. Instead they asked people from all walks of his life to send a card. So family, friends, former co workers etc sent him a card with a note. He was so surprised and loved it. He got mail for almost two weeks around his birthday.

Can you make a video card? Something with messages from all the relatives set to music? That would be special.

Also, if she has a favorite celebrity, maybe spring for a Cameo video?

Zoom party! Can you send refreshments/treats that you could all enjoy together on the big day? For my DH's milestone bday with far away family, I hired a comedian and did a hosted game night. It was really fun and gave a bit more structure/party atmosphere than just a regular zoom call.

For my ES dd's milestone bday I had a lot of important people in her life send me a video greeting and then I put them all together into a show for her topped with a cameo from a singer she likes.

We couldn’t see mine for her 70th because of Covid and we are not local. My siblings and I arranged 7 days of surprise presents to show up at her house. It was a mix of fun gifts, food, and nice dinners. We didn’t tell her what was coming and would send cryptic group family test messages that said 7 for 70! Around the time of delivery. It made her laugh and she figured out a couple days in that this would be happening for 7 days.

Thanks all for the suggestions! I was already thinking of the video card.
The comedian sounds like a good idea too. PP 17:08, whom did you use?

We have also been doing a zoom birthday thing for basically all the family birthdays. It's terrific - takes 10 minutes, everyone logs on and sings and gets to wish the birthday celebrant a good day. It's fun.

Do a Zoom party and invite lots of people. But have each join at varying times so the party gets bigger and bigger and she never knows who's going to jump in next.
