This is my DC 2nd year playing in the ECNL league. Our 1st year was a disaster; teams were scoring 8-10 goals on us per game and kids were not showing up for games. I have heard other parents from the older age groups stating that the club is not developing our kids to play in these highly competitive leagues; and the only benefit we are getting is exposure.
We decided to give this club 1 more year to see if things would get better. So, before our ECNL season kicked off we played in a tournament that was majority EDP teams. We did very well, but we came in second overall. Now, are ECNL season has kicked off and we are struggling just like we did last year. I know its still early, but considering we have a different coach this year, I'm starting to wonder if the rumor is true. With all that said, is there a rule stating that if your team/club doesn't perform at a certain level in a highly competitive league, then they will be asked to leave??? |
I assume if they start eliminating teams that are not performing, then the league will lose money. Parents will need to decide if the time and money spent is worth it. If not, start looking for another club.. |
| I am pretty sure OP is a troll. |
| I don't know if teams/clubs have been asked to leave a league based on performance. Considering you said this is a different coach from last season; and the results are still the same would have me questioning the level of training the club/coaches are providing. |
| I question the level of the players. |
players are a reflection of the coaches |
| Must be BRYC parent. Ugh. I feel for you. |
| Again it is a troll. ECNl parents are well versed. They stay or leave clubs and most kids play at several clubs before they graduate. Playing at a high level kids may leave to follow a coach or if they don’t like their playing time or a coach etc. Usually the trolling is an FCV parent who thinks they should take BRYC ECNl spot. BRYC is a storied club with great college placement. They are not going anyway. They may consider replacing some coaches whose manner is driving away players but that is another story. |
VDA or BRYC? |
Your mom, actually. |
I love that. It's a great line. "That's what your mom said last night." It's amazing how often it's true too. |
|
Must be VDA. Already looking for replacements.

VDA are always looking for replacements. Because they don't develop the kids they have. |
Speaking from experience? 🤔 |

One of three things happened... OP which do you think it is? it a combination of all of the above?
1) the club didn't have a strong enough player pool to right from the beginning (U12/U13) to really compete in ECNL in the first place. They might be able to hang on in games with the weaker ecnl teams but its obvious they have zero chance against strong teams and are being outplayed, outrun, and physically overmatched by more athletic players. 2) the coach is the wrong fit for the age group he or she is coaching, and the concepts and skills being trained during practice are off target for the age group. ECNL coaches are rarely inexperienced but they can be the wrong fit (former college coach coaching U13-U14 or the U19 coach going back down to coach middle school age groups... or the other way around) 3) the coach doesn't know how to watch a game video and build a practice session to improve the problem areas |
