I’m surprised by how every article of clothing I have been given as a gift is pink. I’m obviously having a girl and although I don’t hate pink, it’s far from my favorite color. And these are gracious gifts from friends and family by age.

It’s gross. There are other options available but old timey relatives insist on PINK PINK PINK BLUE BLUE BLUE.

*MY age (early 30’s) |
| Gross. I wish the browns and oranges of the 70s would come back for kids. |
| I think it's most common for babies and maybe through preschool age. Think of "gender reveals" where the reveal is always pink for girls and blue for boys. Why? I don't know. While at the same time we talk about how we're not going to impose gender norms on our kids and our daughter can totally play with trains and dinosaurs. |
|
For infants, it is VERY strong. VERY.
It stops when the kid can have an opinion, so around 3? Then everyone competes to buy her a new favorite shirt with whatever she is into that week on it. |
| Newborns all look alike. It’s helpful to see a baby in a pink or blue onesie, so that well meaning people like me can make appropriate comments about your beautiful baby OP. “Oh she’s just beautiful!” “Congratulations! He is so cute.” |
| I think it’s marketing; when I was shopping for my baby I wanted a whole rainbow and it seemed like most of the clothing available was either pink, blue, white, and/or obviously gendered in some way (e.g. text). So frustrating. Would it kill them to give us clothes in nice bright red or dark purple or rich green? |
It's really not that hard to see a baby in public and say "What a beautiful baby!" or "Aren't baby smiles the sweetest? How old?" and then wait for the parents, if they want, to say "He's 4 months" or "Her name is Sophie. |
| Have you ever stepped inside a baby store? No idea why you would think that color assigned clothing for boys and girls is “over”. Wishful thinking maybe? I love blue and have boys so it’s worked great but if I have a girl I’m not going to dress her pink because I don’t like the color, but if someone gifts me something pink I’ll be gracious and appreciative because nearly everything newborn is blue or pink. You should tell people to stop gifting you anything if you get offended so easily. |
Lol, no. No one needs a Harvest Gold onesie
|
Of course it’s not “hard” PP. I think k I could handle that. But how sweet when you’re already given a clue! |
Whoa calm down, she didnt say that she was offended, just surprised. I was too when I was pregnant. OP, you could try registering for things in other colors so people get a sense for what you might like or build your own collection of items over time. Primary has a ton of clothes in all colors of the rainbow for instance. |
| It’s sweet and old fashioned. It’s over by age 12 months for most. |
