Shady Grove Donor Embryo Program

Anonymous
Has anyone used the Shady Groves shared risk donor embryo program? If so, would you mind sharing your experience? Were there hidden costs? Were you successful?

a friend of mine did this. Successful first try - transferred two embryos and has twins. She never suggested there were any hidden costs (she never complained anyway)!

We did it and were also successful on the first try.

Also did it and was successful on first try. Knowing now- having educated myself more- I would have pushed for an open donation or some kind of information about genetic donors. That said, it was an easy and supportive process and considering doing it again (we still have second embryo)

Did it. Successful on the second try. There were no hidden costs, but the drugs are in addition to. (I'm sure you know that, but just in case.)

I did it using frozen eggs. Successful with first transfer. Had six embryos total. No hidden costs.

Yes. That is how I have 2 kids. The cost will break anyone not a federal employee or independently wealthy but I got what I wanted--a family! One cost I never considered was the over 100K hospital bill for each child as both were preemies and spent time in the NICU. Preemies are quite common with older women doing IVF so not an unreasonable thing to plan for. Insurance paid for some but OOP I paid 5 figures. Over 20K each kid. Then there are also the costs no one thinks about like the cost of having two kids from two donors and how the kids will feel about that when they come of age. The cost of knowing forever they are not my biological children. let's just say it is complicated.
