Homecoming What do teen boys wear

Anonymous
My 15 year old is going to the homecoming with a group of boys. I am clueless as to what he should wear. This is a public high school btw...
Thanks

Highly dependent on peer group. My son plays basketball—what I’ve found is that the athletes tend to have a certain look that is more fashion forward. My other son is not and his outfits for this stuff don’t differ much from what his father would wear.

Any dress pants, dockers, khaki's, with button down shirt and blazer and or tie.

Ignore the idiot poster that athletes dress more "fashion forward" That is ridiculous. All the boys wear the same thing, pants, shirt, jacket and possibly tie.

Umm I’m that poster and I’m not an idiot. It’s a thing. Scroll through kids instagrams and you’ll see it.

I suggest taking pictures with a blazer but then leaving it at home or in the car. My son lost his even with “coat check”. The school gave no Fs that it disappeared from coat check

Shiiit if they can’t figure out how to get dressed or mommy dressing them, they ain’t getting laid. Isn’t that the purpose of these dances (sorry to shock you)

Depends on the “group” Some do Spots coat/khakis tie or no tie. Others wear suits. Some make a unique statement.

+1 My DD's boyfriend is shopping thrift stores for a "unique" look.

No, it’s not. Athletes aren’t more fashion forward. Perhaps some may spend more on clothing (tailored pants, for example), just as some non athletes may do the same.

Y’all are hilarious. “Athletes are more fashion forward.” Um, maybe an actual NBA player is, not a high school basketball player. I also love the categorical use of the word “athletes” for kids who play high school sports. I’m not knocking anyone who plays sports, by the way- my own kids do. But I suspect “athletes” are a special category to you, and you don’t also refer to those in the marching band as “musicians” and those in the school play as “actors.”

Op, my son is wearing a blazer and khakis, no tie.

Are these typically date dances, groups, what. DS will likely not go, but just in case he is suddenly interested...

He doesn’t need mommy dressing him. Pay for the ticket and offer to drive him, other than that, stay out of it.
