So everyone was all focused on the new built Cardinal school, but really its same admin and faculty as McKinley, just in new digs.
Innovation is really the truly new school, with new Principal and a slew of new hired teachers and transfers from ASFS and maybe elsewhere. We are moving from Taylor zone apartments to a townhouse zoned for Innovation, and wonder how the new school is doing? We might be able to stay at Taylor if we try to be grandfathered, but would rather be in our neighborhood school if Innovation is coming together well. |
We’re loving Innovation so far. Good communication form school and pTA. Kids have made new friends and kept some old friends from ASFS. School is not overcrowded. Great playground. Have some great staff that came from Asfs and other schools. Am very pleased so far. Not 100% on board with the no homework for upper elementary but do like the focus on kids reading at home every day. |
There are no "new" friends at Innovation -- the school population is 100% from the old ASFS zone just with a new principal, teachers, and building ![]() |
It's been smooth for us. I agree the school and PTA have been doing a good job with communication and they are really focused on community building. So far, so good! |
We friends = kids who moved into the attendance boundaries. There are always new kids. |
PP, we = new |
It seems like there could be a massive influx of new students in the coming years, given the boundary situation. |
Massive? How so? I can imagine them adding a few more PUs but nothing massive. |
Queen's Court is going to start leasing soon, so that will definitely add kids since it has 90 2 bedroom apts and 44 3 bedroom apts. There are also a ton of market rate apts delivering in the next year, but those are much lower impact as far as kids per unit. In the longer term, there will be some shift as families who would have started their K kids at Key go to Innovation instead, but that kind of feeder pattern change takes time. |
Sure, new buildings will bring new kids, but that's not a "boundary situation". |
There are huge apartments that will be built down the road (old Wendy’s site and elsewhere), and I assume, but don’t know, that they they will be zoned for Innovation. |
Some awesome teachers from APS moved there, which is great for Innovation! |
It's so empty. So good for social distancing?
|
Such a good thing for this year!! |
Perhaps OT, but I thought it was predicted to open near or at capacity. Is it empty because people have enrolled their children in private school? |
