| new volunteer coach for 9v9 soccer. found brantwojack free forms online for tracking substitutions. any other recommended templates to use or suggestions for managing substitutes? this is for 9 v 9 and where we'll have 2-4 on bench depending on who else shows up. thanks. |
A notebook is adequate. Have starting 9 listed with room to track subs. I typically track minute of sub, who entered and who exited. Simple, free and able to record specific notes for the day. |
| There are a couple of apps you can download from the Apple Store: SubTime, SubNow or Coaches Clock. They are a lot better than using paper and pencil in my experience. |

Coaches Clock works great on IPad. I've never found anything as good for Android.
I have a pencil/paper system that works great for me Players listed in one column and then columns for rough time slots for starting and and where I want to sub (in 30 minute half, I shoot for 7/14/21). I then just mark when players are in (sometimes I will put actual position numbers in so I can quickly see where someone played during the game). |
| How can an app tell the workload of a player as to when to sub in and out? strictly a time schedule is a recipe for disaster. Bad chemestry, cant take n account for individuals exceeding playing performance expectations, and just the sway of momentum in the game. |
I'm sure the app can be manipulated. It's not like the app is actually sending the kids on the field. |

Nothing looks worse than playing with your phone. A notepad is plenty. My simple system was to list your positions from back to front down the page (line 1 - GK, line 2 - right back, etc) names where they play, new line (think column in excel) for each substitution along with time they went in. Circle the player name for a goal or a “+” for whatever you are trying to see, “-“ for anything poor.

| plan your lineup and rotations before the game and bring a copy of it on a clipboard with you. |
And then watch it go to hell when someone doesn’t show up or arrives late. |
Or has an off game, or is just gettin roasted by their match up. |
