| Please explain the role of an Executive Director within a youth sports or non-profit organization. Any example(s) of people to support your statements would be greatly appreciated. |
| All I know is the ED of the club our daughter plays for has turned the club around, grown the club and expanded the offerings. its not important what club as Im sure if I say the club it will trigger the DCUM trolls to bash and that will take away from your question. |
| Same as in a business. To provide leadership and vision. |
| To make sure the organization follows the laws and operates according to its by-laws. |
| So the executive director is not an employee of the board? |
| To make antiquated coaching videos for the u6 programs. |
|
This was the summary of the ED position at Loudoun:

| In business it's called a General Manager or even President. Executive Director is the nonprofit version. They run the organization. |
The ED is hired by the board. The ED is an employee of the organization. |
| Execute Board directives. Manage day to day operations. Fund raise. Put out metaphorical fires. |
What if the ED is on the board as a voting member? |
Most nonprofits will have the ED participate as a non-voting member. Once you start having an ED vote on matters you start to get into trouble with nonprofit laws. |
Pretty sure LMVSC is set up with the ED as a voting member of the board. |
| To question every soccer decision of the staff despite never having played or having gotten a coaching license in 20 years. |
Didn't see any discussion about knowledge of soccer or experience in prior soccer clubs. |
