US Men’s Hockey Team

All men need to be allies.

Women here think men are predators, and oppressors.

Maybe they should stop acting like predators and oppressors, then. They had an opportunity to be gracious towards the women’s team and they blew it. If this is how they act when they know people are watching, what are they doing behind closed doors?

I'm pretty sure that few of us could name the men who compete, but most of us know who Simone Biles is.
Also, Mary Lou Retton. Shannon Miller. etc.

A lot has been said lately about the "Miracle on Ice." I remember where I was and the excitement when the team won. So, of course the men had more hype.

This is not an either/or situation.

We watch both in our house.

iTS NOT ABOUT VIEWERSHIP. POTUS did not congratulate the womens team - by phone or by social media- but did congratulate the mens through phone and social media. And on top of it made an off "joke" about how he would have to invite the women as if they didnt earn it, didnt deserve it, and only because of "fairness" would he have to invite them while also elbowing in a jokey manner that the mens achievement is the real victory.
FFS.

Patel phoned Trump from the locker room--Trump did not call them.

He made the ugly little joke all by himself. And Sotu is different than than your run-of-the-mill athlete trip to the White House. SOTU guests are invited for a political optics.

It was not an ugly joke. It was just a joke. But, it wouldn't matter to you.

I still don't understand the funny part of the joke?

+1. What is the not ugly, funny part of that joke? Just explain that to the forum here so we can understand.

Hopefully you’re in therapy.

Where is the lie?

I bolded it for you.

DP. I can see LOVE being triggering. The most accurate statement is: "they, by their actions and association, CONDONE pedophiles and masked men who kill people on the street of the US?"

Shame on them! Why did they work so hard to win, only to act like losers?
Three cheers for the women’s team, who truly won the day!

Again, no one watches women’s hockey, even women. Check the ratings.

The viewership of Men’s hockey is going to nosedive because of this. We used to go to several caps games a season and had season tickets for several years. I’ll never go again unless players or the NHL get the courage to make a statement.

Not a single Washington Capital played for the U.S. men's team. But your petty outrage and virtue signaling is noted.

DP. But has a single male hockey player ANYWHERE in the US said boo about this? Have the Caps said anything about it?

The silence is deafening.

They are either cowards or all in on the misogyny. They are teaching young boys that mocking women is all good and behavior to aspire to. Could’ve been heroes but chose to be the worst role models ever.

Thanks for reinforcing my point. You’d make a great ally. A snake in the grass.

Why do you want to be an ally for locker room bad boys laughing at the US Women's team who competed just as well as they did?!?

Trump is a pedophile and a PoS. Who cares what he says? Trump has made the office of President essentially meaningless for the vast majority of Americans. He is pure garbage for his post on the women’s team. His supporters are garbage too.

The damage is done. The president could have complimented the success of the women's team and instead he chose to make a joke at their expense. On we go and I guess it's good to know where hockey culture stands. I don't think there was any doubt as to where Trump stands.

I think the invitation to the State of the Union is in some ways more telling than the joke about the women's team. These guest invitations are very political in nature for this particular event. The job of the guest is to attend as support for the politician extending the invitation.

It's not the same as going to the White House to celebrate a championship.

Sure...... now address why the women's team was not congratulated through social media as done with the men's team.

Ally for what? Respect women. It’s that simple.

The State of the Union is tonight. The game was two days ago. It makes PERFECT sense. Sorry they are white. Why does that make a difference?

It makes no difference that they are white. It makes a difference that they are there to support politics of this administration.
