Weight Plateau

How did you get past weight plateau?

I understand in general - amping up exercise and watching calories to be in a calorie deficit.

Anything else??

These are so annoying and I have had success going in either direction:

* Just staying firm or even cutting out more food over the next few days until the number on the scale changes.

* Having a cheat day and going over. Sometimes then on the way back down it doesn't get stuck again, it's weird.

Good luck!

How long have you been in a "plateau"? Plateau meaning not losing weight. If you have only been in one for a week or two I would keep doing what had been working. It's totally normal for things to stall and hen to lose 2 lbs all at once. Weight also fluctuates so the numbers will bounce around, again totally normal. i like weighting daily and tracking the trend to really see what is happening vs just weighing once a week.

If you really have notices that you are not losing weight then double check what you are eating to make sure extra calories aren't slipping in and that you are really being as consistent with your diet as you want to think you are.

I find that plateaus tend to happen when we get complacent.

OP how old are you? Are you female? These two factors matter.

Or they happen when you've reached the lowest weight you can comfortably and healthily maintain. The answer to OP's question depends in part on what her current weight is.

I'm also in a plateau right now. I've been intrigued by experts who suggest that interval training (e.g. HIIT and the like) are particularly efficient for calorie burning. Some authors like Stacy Sims ("Next Level") suggest that steady state cardio could even be bad for weight loss. I don't know if I'd go that far, but I'm trying to add in more HIIT. Maybe you should too? I like these apps:
