Robin Williams suicide

I knew all the way back to Mork and miney he was a suicide risk. He tries too hard to be funny. It was stressful to watch.

Depression is not a demon. It's an illness.

Pp is talking about his drug and alcohol addictions.

He started drinking again to self-medicate his depression and anxiety. Illnesses. Not demons.

It's an expression. I don't think PP thinks he was literally troubled by demons.

True. Even if you are not "addicted" to alcohol it can change you, your behavior, and the people around you. You can still ruin your life with alcohol even if you are not an alcoholic. Robin Williams was an addict and struggled with depression. But he also caused a lot of pain for others along the way. Cheating, spreading sexually transmitted diseases, drinking and drugs. I am sure his first wife was in a lot of pain when he gave the waitress herpes and got his nanny pregnant. His years of alcohol abuse were probably difficult for his kids. And now his children are left with the pain of his suicide. It is sad that he killed himself but it is even sadder all the pain he caused others. I have a close family member who is an alcoholic and they have brought nothing but pain to our family and to themselves. This disease is self destructing for not only the suicidal depressed person but also for all the family members who are caught in their web of self destruction. So sad for everyone.

Much of his hypersexual behavior, poor decision making and risk taking behavior was likely due to his bipolar disorder. When people with bipolar are high or manic, they act out in very inappropriate ways.

Why was he sleeping in another room from his relatively recent wife's room? His attempt could have been thwarted or just discovered way earlier than 12 hours afterwards..

No idea - lots of couples sleep in different rooms. maybe he had insomnia and was up all night. Very common with depression.

Also he may have planned it so it couldn't be thwarted or discovered. It takes only a couple minutes to die from hanging. He may have done it when he knew he wouldn't be rescued. Men tend to use lethal means and complete suicide far more often than women.

Stats. Women attempt about 9 times more often than men but men are successful 4 times more often than women. Men tend to use firearms and hanging. they leave little room to be found/rescued. Women often take overdoses and/or make sure there is a chance they will be found/rescued - more ambivalence.

Statements by Robin's children:

"Yesterday, I lost my father and a best friend and the world got a little grayer. I will carry his heart with me every day. I would ask those that loved him to remember him by being as gentle, kind, and generous as he would be. Seek to bring joy to the world as he sought," Zak Williams, 31.

"My family has always been private about our time spent together. It was our way of keeping one thing that was ours, with a man we shared with an entire world. But now that’s gone, and I feel stripped bare. My last day with him was his birthday, and I will be forever grateful that my brothers and I got to spend that time alone with him, sharing gifts and laughter. He was always warm, even in his darkest moments. While I’ll never, ever understand how he could be loved so deeply and not find it in his heart to stay, there’s minor comfort in knowing our grief and loss, in some small way, is shared with millions. It doesn’t help the pain, but at least it’s a burden countless others now know we carry, and so many have offered to help lighten the load. Thank you for that. To those he touched who are sending kind words, know that one of his favorite things in the world was to make you all laugh. As for those who are sending negativity, know that some small, giggling part of him is sending a flock of pigeons to your house to poop on your car. Right after you’ve had it washed. After all, he loved to laugh too… Dad was, is and always will be one of the kindest, most generous, gentlest souls I’ve ever known, and while there are few things I know for certain right now, one of them is that not just my world, but the entire world is forever a little darker, less colorful and less full of laughter in his absence. We’ll just have to work twice as hard to fill it back up again," Zelda Williams, 25.

"There are no words strong enough to describe the love and respect I have for my father. The world will never be the same without him. I will miss him and take him with me everywhere I go for the rest of my life, and will look forward, forever, to the moment when I get to see him again," Cody Williams, 22.

That is one classy and well-spoken family. And sob to what Cody says: ”...and will look forward, forever, to the moment when I get to see him again."

God, I hate suicide. I have had several family members do it and it just makes me so sad I feel ill.

This journalist noted how sad he has always seemed.

I watched this movie, it was intense. Wondering if his character was some approximation of who he really was.

I think if you live in a huge mansion, it's more common for people to sleep in different rooms.
