Does Talbots run true to size?

Anonymous
I’ve never bought anything from Talbots. I’m curious if their dresses run true to size?

No they run large. True to size based on the 80’s but now compared to most stores if you’re a 4 at j crew you’re a 0 at Talbots.

I feel it runs big. I am between a 12 and 14 at Loft but can fit in a 10 at Talbots i

That’s helpful. I’m a 12 in Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Tommy Hilfigger office dresses. I don’t have anything from Loft. Are you familiar with any of these other brands?

Whatever you do, don't go by their size chart! First time I went shopping at Talbots I pulled down all size 12s based on size chart and ended with a size 8.

They run huge.

They run on old school sizes, which is big for today's sizes. My mom has been the same size at Talbots since forever. But I think Ralph Lauren is the same, so I'd go by your RL size.

Once you figure out your size though the sizing is consistent. I never have to worry if I need to order up or down because I always order the same size and the item fits.

I'm a 2-4 and talbots smallest size ( can't remember if it is a 0 or 2) is too big

Same, and I’m 5’6” and 125.

It’s the opposite-talbots is vanity sizing. You definitely need to adjust down a size or two. I’m a 10-12 but always a 10 at Talbots, and a M rather than a L.

Yes, I find that Talbots runs big, but not as big as Land's End!

And I agree with PP - the sizing is consistent. Now that I know what Talbots size fits me (and for whatever reason, Talbots works well for my body shape), I have no worries about ordering - IME the same size has always fit the same way. I don't even bother trying anymore on when I buy in-store.

I wear size 2/xs at Talbots, also at brooks brothers, jcrew, banana...etc. For me they are true to size. For jcrew I sometimes get xxs or 0, I would say jcrew runs large, but talbots is true to size.

Lol. The sizes run clownishly large. Vanity sizing on steroids.

I’m 5’9 and 145 and their size 2 fits me perfectly. Ridiculous.

I’m almost the same height/weight (I’m 5 10) and I can maybe wear a Talbots 6 but no smaller. An 8 works more of the time. Maybe it’s your body or how your weight is distributed?
