Peloton Digital App, Other Favorite Exercise Apps

Anonymous
Has anyone tried the Peloton Digital App for non cycling classes? Any other favorite app /ipad classes?

I run a lot (including treadmill), row, basic strength, and in the past have done some some classes. I tried the free aaptiv with audible for running; it was a decent change of pace, but not great, but could see how it could be much better.

I have a Peloton bike and use the app for all kinds of other stuff and love it! There are great short strength workouts that can be stacked together (most use body weight or high reps with low weight so if heavy lifting is your thing it might not be great). I absolutely love their stretching and tack those on after I ride and have really noticed a difference particularly in a super tight IT band that nagged at me for a while. They just released new yoga but I haven’t tried it yet. I also have a regular treadmill and use the app with their run workouts and I really enjoy them. I am not a big runner though and stick to mostly beginner type classes but I find the time flies by with the instructors talking and changing speed and incline up compared to when I just plod along on my own. Honestly we bought the bike thinking we were buying a bike and I have been floored by the amount of additional content available. I can’t say enough good things!

I've heard good things about obe fitness, but it's not out on android yet.

The Peloton android reviews seem poor so far since it doesn't seem to connect to chromecast or record history. I may still try it if the 2 month free promo is still going on.

I like Aaptiv.

I liked Studio better than Aaptiv for running.

I'm also a HUGE fan of the Peloton digital app and absolutely LOVE the boot camps and running classes. I used to HATE running on the dreadmill (prefer outside) but now find myself opting inside. Yes, shocking. I love it so much that I just dropped the $$$$$ for the tread to add to my home gym.

The Peloton app is amazing. I used to use it with a cheap cycling bike I have, but I just upgraded to the actual Peloton bike. I still use the app to do the bootcamps. I use an old treadmill in my basement and stream the bootcamps from my phone to an old HDTV. There is a ton of other great content as well (yoga, stretching, strength training).

My one complaint is the currently they only have 10 minute strength training classes. I suspect they will eventually come out with longer programs since this is very in-demand.

is it possible to do the treadmill workouts on a non-peloton (but good quality) treadmill?

I do the Peloton run and bootcamp workouts on my own non peloton treadmill all the time and love it. I think treadmill numbers are fairly standard so it is really easy to use a non Peloton treadmill. They ask you to run at certain speeds or inclines. There is nothing about the way the instructors call the speed or incline that is unique to their own tread. You won't be on the leaderboard and the Peloton app won't be able to save any data/metrics about your workout to your profile other than to show that you did the workout but you can definitely do and enjoy all their workouts on a regular treadmill. And if you want to track your mileage etc you can do that using lots of other apps.

I just started doing the peloton workouts on a good treadmill (landice) and I really enjoy it. It's not integrated - i.e, the instructor can't shout out your name, but that's ok. It does track workouts, etc on the app.

My treadmill, has an express button so I can jump up the speeds relatively quickly - though not as quickly as it seems the peloton tread. For hills, my treadmill is just press of one button, which seems equivalent

How much does it cost? Does it makes sense to use it at the gym?

I like the SWEAT app. I wish there was a good TRX app!
