| I have read that the admission acceptance rate at Sidwell is 15%. Does anyone have any information regarding the admission acceptance rates at Beauvoir, Norwood or WES? |

| Norwood is close to 50% |
| I heard the same thing about Norwood--sounds like pretty reasonable odds. |
The more interesting data, which no school would ever part with, would be the yield rates (i.e. what percentage of accepted students enroll), as well as where non-matriculants enroll (for example, do kids accepted at both Beauvoir and Sidwell choose Beauvoir more often, or vice versa?) |
| PP, I think it could be fair to assume that a high acceptance rate equals a low yield. At least in my judgment. |
| Any info on Beauvoir or WES acceptance rates? We're thinking about applying for our DD--would like to know what we're up against. |
| St Albans School admission acceptance rate is about 40 percent when I last checked ... 8 months ago. The rate at Sidwell was 15% at the time. |
|
Another mother at the school playdate told me that WES admitted 25-30% of its applicants -- but since it wasn't the school sharing this information, I have no way of knowing if that information was accurate.

Just out of curiosity as we may apply DS to STA-- was the 40% mentioned by the AD as a statistic? Does it refer only to Beauvoir boys? It sounds like great odds to me, but I wouldn't want to get too excited

I don't think this is correct! St. Alban's? It is probably the most prestigious school in the entire area. These figures aren't correct. |
But bear in mind that Sidwell has the huge flood of pre-k & k applicants, which St. Albans is not subjected too. By the 4th grade and up it is clearer whether a boy is a suitable candidate and/or the many boys are already committed to another school system. The only way you could compare the admission rates would be side by side for years 4th-12th grade; otherwise, it's apples and oranges. |

And STA takes 80-85% of the Beauvoir boys applicants which skews the acceptance rate. Also, if you look at boys acceptance rates applying in the upper schools, my gut is that STA's rate is probably lower than Sidwell. |
Maret takes 10% and Sidwell takes 19%? This doesn't seem right. Or perhaps it's for a year like 6th grade, or maybe 7th grade, when some schools are taking lots of entrants and others just aren't? These numbers shouldn't just be taken straight, either. For example, some schools will fill 30% of the class with siblings or legacies, meaning that the numbers for non-siblings are much higher. |
