Bruce Willis Now Diagnosed with Dementia.

Why is he out in public? If he gets that confused they should keep him away from the public. I am sure they have huge properties that can keep him active and away from the public eye. He is probably at the point where he is not that aware of what is happening.

She is now playing the caring and concerned wife. The one who had him make 21 cheap cheap cheap films in a span of 2 years to make a few million before he could no longer be on set.

Because he wants to live as normal of a life while he can, including grabbing coffee with some friends. Have some compassion, sheesh

Maybe he wants to go to the beach or go out to a restaurant with friends. He probably has “good days” where he can handle socializing.

Exactly, and as part of his care, routines an normalities are important. They're not going to squirrel him away in some tower.

If he doesn’t know where or what car to get into and has to be herded into it (watch DailyMail) he shouldn’t be in the public eye.

You (and the gossip columns) have zero idea if his wife was truly pushing him to "make 21 films" etc. at that point. People with dementias can have periods when they are capable of making decisions for themselves, and dementia is different in every single patient. You cannot know that he didn't agree to sign on for this or that movie, at points when he was fully cognizant of what he was agreeing to do. He himself may have been the one pushing to work a lot in a short span of time, when he realized he was going to lose the capacity to work sooner rather than later. I'm not a huge fan of his as an actor and don't know his wife from lamppost, but I do know that you have NO understanding of dementia if you think a person with dementia would never ramp up work. During lucid periods--when you're aware that you are not always aware of everything --there can be massive fear of never being able to work or be useful to your family again.

It's terrifying for the person with dementia and the reaction sometimes is to try to prepare for the time when they won't know anything that's going on and won't be able to work. If you've never experienced having a person with dementia in your life, you should stop making a mean-spirited fool of yourself by speculating about any damn thing going on in Bruce Willis's life or marriage.

Nonsense. He isn't out wandering the streets alone he is always accompanied. Don't be so small minded

There were claims he needed an ear piece so someone could tell him his lines. The aphasia didn’t happen overnight. And why would he want his reputation be stained by poorly made movies and poor acting by himself? And pretty sure he doesn’t need the money as his net worth is reported to be $250 million.

Why the F not? He's a human being and can go out "in the public eye" if his doctors determine it's good for him. So you'd lock him up at home?

Are you this much of an ableist a-hole about all people with dementia? Or just with famous ones, who should in your mind remain forever as they were at their prime, so your perfect memories of them will remain intact and pristine?

Do you feel the same way about anyone who has to be helped when going out of their house? Or just about people whom the paparazzi follow? You can look away from those pap photos, you know, PP. You can choose not to click on the Daily Mail's incessant pap feed. Your own "public eye" doesn't have to participate, if you're so offended by people who are less than perfect but who have the gall to leave their homes.

If you really think he's the only actor in Hollywood who has had to have lines fed to him like that, you are pretty naive. And many don't do it because of dementia.

And you're still not getting that as aphasia and dementia advance there can stilll be lucid periods when the person wants to make decisions of their own while they still can. Even if you judge those decisions as poor ones, which perhaps they were.

You also missed the post up-thread where it was mentioned that his "net worth" may not translate into actual money he's got to leave his kids.

Google Aaron Carter and Bruce Willis. Can’t help but wonder if the diagnosis announcements mean he can’t be charged or not even investigated.

I suspect this is bogus anyway - but in general, a crime with a dead victim (not dead by murder) isn’t going to be prosecuted. Seeking to prosecute a person suffering dementia would also be tricky if the person's disease has progressed to such a point that they cannot participate meaningfully in their own defense which sounds like it would be the case for Willis.

Mental stimulation is healthy.. He has a big family with a lot of people who love him, so I'm sure he's not going out alone. If he feels like going for a ride with his adult daughter to get ice cream or pick up his younger kid from school or do an errand, he should be able to do that without having strangers shout his name. Why do you think anyone with any type of sickness should be shoved in an attic to wither away?

My mom lived with dementia for years. She still enjoyed going out, even if it was just to the park to sit and watch the world. She especially loved going to the local swimming pool - she was a competitive swimmer through college - and they got to know her there, so my dad could leave her there for a couple of hours while he had a break.

Can't imagine what it would be like if they'd been followed by papparrazzi - I really hope they back off.

Did you watch the DM video? They had to herd him to the car.

He’s lucky they didn’t get distracted and she possibly fall in the pool.
