How many long term same sex couples do you know who have gotten married?

Anonymous
Although I know several same sex couples who have been together more than three years, none of them have married since gay marriage became legal. The ones that I am friendly enough to question about it have said maybe someday, but they don't really see a reason for it. Is this the norm? I've haven't heard anything official about the % of gay couples who have bothered getting married.

Just one since it became legal. But I don't know as many same sex couples as I used to.

I personally know three couples that have married; two of those couples are raising kids. My other gay friends are still young and having fun.

One. They got married in Connecticut as soon as it was legalized there. They had been together for a long time.

I know 3 same sex couples and all three have married. Two of those couples had been together 10+ years and were raising children before it became legal. The other couple is younger, early 30ish, I'm not sure how long they have been together but since getting married they have adopted an infant.

All of my lesbian/gay friends/relatives have gotten married and most have children

All of our gay/lesbian friends took the plunge before it was federally recognized. We're friends with a couple we've known since college (we're in our early thirties now) who have been engaged forfuckingEVER but haven't gotten married yet.

DW and I actually flew to Boston in 2009 to get married with a justice of the peace since DC was recognizing but not performing same sex marriages at that time. What can I say? Where there's a will, there's a way.

None. Huh, never realized that.

One, but all of my other LGBT friends are currently either not in relationships, or are in new relationships. I'm 31.

At least four: my cousin and her wife, who have been together for more than 20 years; a friend and her wife, who have also been together for more than 20 years; the moms of one of DS's preschool friends; and two friends who were together for a year before getting married.

Those are the ones who quickly popped into my head. There are almost certainly more.

All the ones I know were married years before the government recognized it. But then, same goes for my heterosexual friends who are married (except that the government recognized their marriage when they were married). I don't know anyone who married in the past three years. I am 51.
