We like Ghaffari. But the other G-man (Garai?) seems pretty good, too, based on family & friends. I think they're pretty similar.

We go to McGrath in Oakton.

Dr. Garai is phenomenal. Also, amazing office and staff. Highly recommend. My 2 sisters and I went to him for years and our teeth are beautiful.

Another vote for Dr. Garai. Both of my boys and myself saw him for braces and invisalign with phenomenal results. He's board certified which was important to me. Also, when we needed help with an oral surgeon Dr. Garai went above and beyond to speak directly with the surgeon to help us get our questions answered. Like pp mentioned, his staff is awesome, its a very well run office.

Garai vote again. DD saw him

I don't live anywhere near Dr. Garai and we chose him over several local orthos. Daughter has jaw issues and he is very knowledgeable. He also took care of my son (standard braces).

We use McGrath in Oakton. Very communicative -- he made a special effort to reach out to our DD's dentist to discuss her somewhat unusual issues, and they actually met each other in person to talk about her. I hear that most orthodontists seldom contact the kids' dentists beyond maybe getting x-rays sent.... Good staff, too; the person who does DD's adjustments always comes out to the front lobby afterward to tell me what was done and what will be done the next time. I like that.

We had an initial consultation with another orthodontist who seemed to be very rushed during the consultation, and who mostly talked about pulling teeth immediately (DD was only eight!) but McGrath didn't want to start out yanking teeth, was more incremental and took a lot more time to sit down and explain things to us during that initial consultation, though DD wasn't even a patient yet.

Whatever you do, go for initial free consultations with several orthodontists so you can compare them. They all do free consultations. You will get a good feel for the orthodontist himself, the staff and the overall office vibe. Even if you think you love the first one you visit, see at least one or two more .

Dr. McGrath is wonderful -- he did my braces in the early '90s and will do my kids' as well if he keeps practicing.

Garai also does not push anything or have unneccessary teeth yanked

Another vote for Dr. Garai. We had gone to another orthodontist who was MUCH more expensive and had some not-great business practices. Dr. Garai was able to help my son in a simpler, far less expensive way. Their office staff and everyone we've worked with there have been spectacular. My DD will be going there too.

We love Dr. Weil. Had a bad experience with another dentist beforehand and thankfully he does braces so we're set.
