| Looking for a magazine suggestion for my daughter who is almost 11. She isn't into academic things or poetry or "New Moon" magazine. This is meant for pleasure reading -- she's into fashion and hair and makeup (but I don't let her wear makeup yet) and pop stars but I don't want something meant for older girls. I'm looking for "fluff" but not "17". Ideas? |
| I loved Elle and Vogue when I was her age. I had a subscription to both. |
Whoops missed the second half of your post. Disregard my suggestion. |
| OP again -- Discovery Girls is a little too "wholesome". Girls World might be closer to what I am looking for? |

American Girl
Discovery Girls |
| What about Justine? |

You're looking for something LESS wholesome. Okay. There might be a reason why there isn't a whole lot of of fashion mags for 11 year olds. I know you're not looking for that kind of thing, but the magazines from Cricket Media are really good quality. Muse would be the science mag for her age, and Cricket for literature. There are also history/archeology mags. just throwing it out there - maybe if she's exposed to better stuff, she might develop an interest. |

Girls Life
Glitter There are cheer and gymnastics mags if she's onto that. Do they still have teen people? |
| Cricket Magazine is great. No ads, and a year's subscription on Amazon is about 20 dollars. I've heard it referred to as the New Yorker for children. |
| Cricket! |
Unless the 11 year old girl is less mature than her peers, I think these two choices are too "young" for a girl her age. |
OP here. We already get both Cricket and Muse, as well as American Girl and National Geographic Kids. But she is asking for a "fun" magazine that isn't school-y. She wants something with fashion, something girly, not Girl Scouty! |
What's wrong with 17? It's pretty much targeted at tweens. |
Thank you! Girls Life looks perfect. http://www.girlslife.com/ |
| Anybody else remember "Jane" magazine? |
