Why do I always get sick after eating Rice Krispies?

Anonymous
I was lactose intolerant as a child. Threw up at just the thought of milk.

As an adult I love it and have it every day.

PPs should try vanilla almond milk on their cereal. It's good, but not as good as whole milk! (None of that 2% crap.)

Too much iron.

Sick, how, OP? Do you vomit? Get a cramp? If you can be more specific, maybe it would help people with their guessing.

Sugar bomb

It is crazy to suggest that drinking milk or eating rice cereal is a sugar bomb. What do you people eat? Atkins diet?

I had a bowl of rice krispies the other night, in honor of this thread! It was my dinner and it was delicious.

If this is the only situation in which OP consumes fresh milk (as opposed to cultured dairy products), my guess is lactose intolerance.

Rice Krispies are banned in Europe and Japan, because of certain chemicals added to them. This can be verified in a simple Google search.

I know, right? If you are fine after a cookie but sick after rice crispies then sugar isn't the problem, obviously.

Rice Krispies do not have gluten

They do. Not from the rice but there is malt. Although if OP was reacting to gluten, I think it would happen with many other foods.

Which is TRAGIC for us gluten-intolerant folks because malt is so good.

Same problem - I get burps and heartburn from RKs

Thin or thick people can have insulin resistance, BTW. Just more likely if you are chunky.

What? It only has 4 grams of sugar.

36 grams of carbohydrates. Rice turns into simple sugars.

Harris Teeter brand of Rice Krispies is gluten free with no malt flavoring

I feel like this after eating any bowl of cereal since I turned 30. I don't have issues with any other dairy, but a bowl of cereal makes me feel icky.

It's probably the milk. I bet you are ingesting more milk than you normally would with cereal because of the size and shape of the rice Krispies.
