OK guys- what could I use the rest of my flex spending account money on? I have $400 left that will expire at the end of the year.
There's nothing wrong with us. Is there anything at the dentist office that I could have done? What about a chiropractor? Would that work? Help me! What am I not thinking of that I could use this money on? |

No, you got it wrong. Go to FASFED website and check it out. For 2015 enrollment, it expires 12/31/15 even though they will let you carry over up to 500 to 2016. |
What are you talking about? This isn't through FSA feds. I WILL lose the money 12/31. I just checked. Is there anything fun I could use it for at the dentist? Like a fluoride or something? |

Below is from FSAFED FAQ section: August 2014 FSAFEDS is excited to announce two new changes for the 2015 Benefit Period! First, the minimum election for all accounts has been lowered to from $250 to $100. If you like the savings you get with FSAFEDS, please let your friends and colleagues know about the lower minimum election and how it’s easier than ever to try out an FSA. Second, carryover has been adopted for health care and limited expense health care FSAs effective with the 2015 Benefit Period. If you are enrolled in one of these FSAs next year, you will be able to bring up to $500 of unspent funds from 2015 into 2016. You can use these funds to reimburse your eligible expenses incurred in 2016. You must re-enroll for the 2016 Benefit Period to be eligible for carryover. IMPORTANT! Carryover will mean significant changes to how your general purpose and limited expense health care FSAs are administered, including the eligibility period for claims. For example, beginning in 2015, there will no longer be a grace period for incurring health care expenses. This means all eligible expenses must be incurred between January 1st (or your effective date in the plan) and December 31st, 2015. The deadline for submitting claims remains the same at April 30th of the following year. Please refer to the Carryover section of the FAQs to learn more. This change is not effective until the 2015 Benefit Period. This means there is no change to the 2014 Benefit Period. You will still have access to the grace period for both your 2014 health and dependent care accounts, allowing you to continue incurring eligible expenses through March 15, 2015. The carryover change has no effect on dependent care FSAs, which will continue to have a grace period through March 15 each year. By law, dependent care FSAs cannot use carryover. |
Well maybe that will be useful for next year, but these are 2014 funds. And 2014 funds don't roll over. |

Not all FSAs are FSAFED, which is for federal employees, silly ass. Each is different and can impose it's own rules. Some rules may be mandatory under Obama care, but I do not believe the grace period for spending has to be. I usually buy new glasses or contacts. -- New Poster |

am i being dense, i thought not everyone has the same plan? what if OP isn't a federal employee, i think private companies can opt to allow receipts after 12/31 or whenever their plan year ends. but it's not a requirement. i could be wrong?
