Can a tall “manly” man drive a small SUV?

Anonymous
Yes - but he may not fit comfortably in a small sports car.

Who will see it anyway? He'll drive it to the parking lot, leave it there, and then go wherever he is going. It's not like people are going to come out into the parking lot to see what he is driving.

My neighbor is a tall, approximately 6’5 and an engineer and he drives a CRV. I never thought twice about it nor thought that he’s driving his wife’s car. aHe seems comfortable in it for those who say the car might be too small for him. And my husband is 6’4 and before we bought our Camry we test drove the CRV and the Rav4 as they were options on my husband’s car list.

See what he will fit into comfortably. That’s way more important than a manly image.

My 6’6” brother can drive very few cars because of his size. It’s not just head room. If it doesn’t have room for his legs, he has difficulty turning the wheel. He drives a Nissan Cube. He said he fit comfortably into the back seat of his friends Cube, so he went out and bought one. He’s generally a practical guy.

I am not a troll. I don’t understand your statement “a car is a car.” Most people I know put a lot of thought into the car they were going to buy.

Your focus on "manly" and "good shape" got you off on the wrong foot. You should have just said he was big, which is relevant.

OP, your post makes you sound like a shallow twit. What you meant to say was that you have a big husband and you need a car they can accommodate his size.

In addition to another sedan, he is also considering a small SUV. Which of the following do you think he would look best in? I admit I think some of these seem like ladies’ cars.

CRV
CX-5
Nissan Rogue
Subaru Forrester

Alternatively he would just get another sedan, likely Sonata, Camry, or Accord.

Thoughts?

Every vehicle you mentioned is a woman's vehicle, but especially those cringe inducing suvs. Two schools of thought. First, you are what you drive. Proceed accordingly and develop a new list. And stick shift only, because real men don’t drive automatics. Second option: a self confident man drives what he wants to drive, especially at this stage of life.

Thank goodness my husband's self worth isn't derived from his car. There's probably some therapy that could help you with this, PP.

HRV is way to go. Much easier to park and as a family you need a modest size car for some outings.

While the question as phrased is absurd (who the hell thinks about how they “look” in a car?), for a tall person, you should look at Kia. They have some sort of relationship with the nba, and seem to have had tall people (and good sound systems) in mind. We rent cars often, and I was really surprised how comfortable the seats of a Hyundai were for long drives compared to our Honda and VW. The rental guy told me it’s because of kia’s influences on their design.

OP here. We will for sure. He has been very happy with his current car, a Sonata.

OP here. You are probably right. But I can’t help the fact that I also don’t want him to look like he’s borrowing his mom’s car.

Is your husband 16 years old? Because that's usually the time when boys are most concerned about what they look like in a car. Most of us outgrow that pretty quickly though.

Uh, no, that's not what she clearly meant to say. She explains later on that it IS all about image.

If you're concerned about image, my successful father has been driven Camrys for years. He's 80.

I know! I say your dh driving the other day and just had to pull over and tweet that I saw a manly man driving a RAV4. It was so hilarious and I just couldn't believe it. A manly man in a woman's car!!! It was unbelievable.

Ummm, when I cruise up to the little red Civic to check out what should be a hot piece of ass and it turns out to be a dude driving, yes I will double take then look and drive away.
