Yes, I am, and I have posted in the past, but only got recs for Joe's (waitlist), Gateway (no way), and the Y.

You might want to post again- maybe about creating some kind of after school nanny share. I know you aren't the only one in this situation. I also know that people have posted info on great in home care givers in Mount Rainier on the list serve.

Sorry OP, what happened at YMCA? How old is your son? Does the tae kwon do studio on 12th offer after care? I know some studios offer this.

Thanks, I will check with the tae kwon do studio, but I think I remember checking with them earlier this year. He was assaulted at the Y, and today was assaulted again badly at kindergarten, so it's not going to be solely an issue with aftercare apparently, as the kid goes to Mt. Rainier also. I really didn't think Kindergarten would be this bad, this is ridiculous.

Can someone send a link to the Mount Rainier list serve? Thank you.

I am interested in doing a nanny share. Our family is in Hyattsville. If interested please email adjoaone@gmail.com

Are they in the same classroom? If you haven't already, you should ask the Principal to separate the kids. And PGCPS bullying policy is very strict so if it is a repeated problem you can go armed with that.

Although it is easy to demonize the other child (I'm totally a Mama Bear), there is probably something going on with them and her/she would probably benefit from early intervention

Reviving this thread because it has a lot of Mount Rainier parents on it. We are thinking about buying a house in Mt Rainier, and wanted to get a sense of the elementary school, we love that it's walkable. I feel like people over-exaggerate on how bad PG county schools are. But would love to get thoughts from people who send their kids there.

Welcome!
I have a high schooler at Roosevelt who went to MRE. We like it here. Unfortunately, my MRE experience is really dated, but overall it was a good experience.

Bump! How is the after care situation 2 years on? Same, or are there more providers? Deciding where to buy based in part on child care, so don't want to join local listserves just yet...
