It came out when i was 11. I didnt get to watch it until 13 or so. Would have been better to see earlier I think.

In this area? Mean Girls should be mandatory to 5 years-old.

Common sense media is your friend, Op.

I've used them for movies and books.

For my 11 year old, I'd be fine with her seeing it at 11. She's young for her age and will just ignore anything too mature. Maybe I would make a different choice if I had a kid who really wanted to act older. I was watch the Netflix movie Moxie today, wondering what age it is appropriate for, and realized my mom took me to see Fast Times at Ridgemont High when I was 10.

I didn’t let my 11 year old watch it when she asked last week. Maybe next year... or the next!

Common Sense Media recommends age 10 for The Force Awakens!

Really? This one? They say 10. Parents and kids both says 9+.

Somehow, I don't think so, though if she were a little older I'm sure I wouldn't have a problem with it. Have any of your 11 yo girls seen it?

Ha! My parents rented that on video but wouldn't let me watch it. Later when they went out, I snuck into their room and watched.

We got about 20 min. in and I had to turn it off - my DH was looking at me like, WTH? It's a very funny movie - for much older kids and adults. Not for 11 yr. olds. Or at least, not for my 11 yr. old.

My almost 15yo DD watched it at age 13 in eighth grade. My 12yo DD, who is in sixth grade, hasn't seen the full movie but knows the plot because of her older sister.
