have you found any reputable online garden/nursery stores?

I find the local garden centers to be wanting, but not sure if I can trust ordering plants online.
Can you recommend any you have had a good experience with? Now that spring is around the corner, I am thinking of my garden.

I second White Flower Farms! Great nursery out of NW CT that does a fantastic mail order business with good customer service and return policy. Really extensive catalog.

I think whiteflower is pretty poor. The plants are alway small and lack roots. I don't think they grow their own plants.
Here are some nice ones:
Woodlander.net
Plant delights nursery, inc
Bustani plant farm
Digging dog nursery
Annie's Amazing nursery
High country gardens

OP here. Thanks for the replies!

I am new to a house/garden in Ffx County and I haven't found the variety of colors and hybrids of things at the local garden centers. I also like the convenience of seeing pictures online and assume the varieties are what they say they are.
However, I haven't ordered from catalogues / online before, so I don't know what to expect of quality. These posts help, so thanks.

I am looking for specific colors of hyacinth, iris, butterfly bush, lilies, peonies, astilbe and maybe hydrangea. I also want to buy some clemantis, honeysuckle, trumpet vine or other flowering vine.

Any suggestions of other local gardeners are helpful, too, if you have found a good one.

We've had good luck with White Flower Farms too. It's expensive, but worth it.

Can I throw in a request for nurseries (online or local) that are good for vegetables if they don't line up with the listing of plants by OP above?

You can find most of those plants at any of the bigger nurseries in the area(merriifields, American plant food, etc)
Try the coral honeysuckle (lonicera sempervirens) The hummingbirds love it and it native.

I love Betty's Azalea Ranch in Fairfax. It has much more than azaleas.

I second the Betty's Azalea Ranch recommendation. They are great!

Go to d'Baggio's Herbs in chantilly VA. More than herbs - magic!

White Flower Farms is insanely expensive.

I get most of my plants at Benhke's nursery in Beltsville (they also have a Potomac or Poolesville location). They have a great selection (veggies, trees, shrubs, perennials, everything), knowledgeable staff, and a good return policy. I really like being able to see plants before I buy them.

For mail-order/online bulbs, I like Brent and Becky's Bulbs.
