Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
| Do you know of any? Do you have to sign a contract? TIA |
| the ballston and s. arlington branches of gold's gym have childcare. there was a membership contract, but not a separate contract for childcare services. i believe childcare is $10/mo. or $2 per visit. |

X Sport Fitness - one in Merrifield and one going up in Alexandria.
They have a day care ($1.00 a day I think), and you can pay monthly, or pay $10 a visit. All their cardio have TV's and you can watch the day care room. |
| Lifetime Fitness - Fairfax and Centreville locations. Not sure about the details (pay extra, time limit, etc.) |
| Lifetime Fitness - fee to join (can't remember how much), $50/mo dues, and an extra $5/mo per child in your family. No cash cost for childcare when you work out. Time limit is 2 hours. Also nice because there is a hair, nails, and massage salon onsite, and you can use their childcare while you get a haircut or pedicure. |

Sport & Health. They have clubs all over NOVA, DC and MD (www.sportandhealth.com). We go to the one at Bailey's Crossroads and they have the following childcare hours:
M-F: 8:30am-8:00pm Sat: 9:00am-3:00pm Sun: 9:00am-12:30pm The childcare is free if you buy a family membership. Or you can do the individual membership and pay a small fee for babysitting. I'm not sure about the contract. |
| Vantage Fitness in Falls Church has childcare. It's $15/month. |
| Sport & Health, both Arlington branches, and WSC Clarendon all have child care. not sure of prices tho |
| fitness first.. $2 per hour per child (maybe less than $4 per hour for 2- only have 1 child).. all over nova and around $33/mos dues.. |

Seconding the earlier poster: Golds Gym has childcare at certain branches. South Arlington, Ballston, Bailey's Crossroads, Merrifield. (and I think a couple more.) If you can get a good deal, the gym membership is not that expensive. (I've been a member for many years and think it's totally worth it.) Child care costs vary by branch. I know that Merrifield offers unlimited daycare for $20/month or $2/child/visit. Ballston is $20/unlimited or $3.50/child/visit. Hours are typically 9-1:30 7 days a week and 5-9ish Mon-Thurs.
Note that Golds will not accept babies until they're 8 weeks old and that there may be a time limit on infants; Ballston will only let young infants stay for an hour at a time. I believe some branches of Washington Sports Club have daycare, but I'm not sure which ones. |
| gold's gym in alexandria is great. Child care is wonderful. |
| Thanks moms for the responses. It seems that all the gyms require a contract, and I had a bad experience in the past with contracts and swore I would never sign one again. SO...I found one that does not require a contract, but with monthly childcare its like 80 a month...too high for me. I guess this baby weight will take alot longer than I thought to come off! Thanks for the help! |
| you could join one of those stroller mom groups and have mom/baby workout. or start one up! there are also workout videos, home equipment, strollers built for running, biking with a babyseat, walking is great exercise, or instead of joining a gym, hire a babysitter and go take an active class or sport...where there's a will there's a way. You don't need a gym to exercise...all you need is you. |
| What about the YMCA? I don't think you need a contract for that, and I know they have a sliding scale if you truly cannot afford the dues. |
