Does this Taylor Swift fling with the NFL football brute seem super fake?

This fake crap has been telegraphed for months with various “viral” clips of macho NFL players at her concerts. It’s cool and okay for men to listen to her catalog! She’s targeting the football demo. Tens of millions of men—over 30 million Americans have a fantasy football team. This cohort swings general elections, which I’m assuming is the real motive here.

Yep! This is why you have so many football teams talking about their fave TS songs. Do we really think that was not planned?!

The teams were asked about favorite songs because Swift’s tour was in town. I doubt she’s been working with the NFL. She sold out a stadium tour without their help.

Either way, this appears to be a calculated move to keep attention and get money. Get attached to a dude with millions of fans, appear at an event being watched by millions between your own shows, etc.

I still think there's a connection. TS played stadiums. Who uses the stadiums the most? Football teams. Lots of cross promo opportunities. If she isn't being paid directly, she's still able to earn money from her appearance at the game by getting NFL daddies to buy tix to her movie for their kids.

And she previously said her relationships were not up for discussion and kept them mostly under wraps. But now she changed her mind?

She is only seen when she wants to be seen. She has security that can make sure of that. Like, we never see her in Utah, do we? But her plane flies there.

She's in control of her story and she's brilliant or has brilliant people working for her.

Again, it's the opposite. The relationship benefits him, not her.

He is trying to break into entertainment from his football career. He has a podcast with his brother, had a short-lived reality program, and hosted SNL last year after winning the SuperBowl. He is looking towards the end of his football career and trying to lift his profile for a career in acting, realty TV, maybe broadcasting or similar. But for that he needs a fan base beyond Chiefs fans and fantasy football people. He's not a QB and that can make leap from football to entertainment more difficult.

I don't really get what's in it for her. I don't think she needs the exposure.

Kelce is a popular NFL player. I don’t think he needs her to successfully transition to the entertainment industry. I actually think the label of “Taylor Swift’s boyfriend” can hurt more than help.

I'm not sure being her boyfriend helps anyone. They turn into fodder for a song or three.

I don't think the Chiefs need TS to attract a female audience. Doesn't Patrick Mahomes do that?

It's not that, its the idea that KELCE would be who she would choose to get more fans. If she was actually trying to do the 'world domination' angle she would be trying to establish a relationship with an international star, someone from Bollywood or South Korea or China, not some American football player that isn't at all connected to the music industry and in a realm where she already has a lot of fans.

Everything after "Kelce is a popular NFL player" is just dead wrong. I'm going to assume you don't work in PR.

How is Joe Alwyn’s career these days? By your logic, he should be a megastar.

You are bummed two clearly heterosexual women don't want to have s&x with each other and instead have a supportive friendship? I don't understand people who seem to want her to be gay when she very clearly is not. And I have no problems with gay people but like, people can be heterosexual! At this point she has dated like 15 men sequentially and written song after song about her heartbreaks, stop trying to make gaylor happen and let her be!

I don’t think only gay people date those of the same sex. Sexuality can also be fluid.

You need to calm down.

Sexuality can be fluid, but sometimes it isn't. I just think its bizarre to be disappointed in her that she continually dates men. There is a ridiculously large population convinced she is married to Karlie Kloss in secret. It's just weird.

I will never understand why people invest their time in conspiracy theories about completely inconsequential people/things.

Not PP but: because it's fun and serves as an escape from annoying but consequential things like (1) our jobs, (2) paying bills, (3) dealing with annoying people in our lives.

+1.

It really doesn't pass the smell test to me, but our house, comprised of huge NFL fans and one teen Swiftie, is enjoying it all for what it is.

Joe Alwyn went out of his way to be as unassociated with her as possible for the duration of their relationship. He was not comfortable with her level of fame so they kept their relationship locked down. Kelce is giving interviews about making her friendship bracelets. The opportunity of press and fame is only as effective as the person taking advantage of it.

I agree with you, but still don't quite get what she gets out of this relationship (I am firmly in the "this is fake and orchestrated by PR camp) because while she of course wants more fans and more money, I'm not sure dating Kelce gets them for her? She's just way higher profile than he is. And I already know enough middle-America, football-loving guys who have bought Taylor Swift albums and tickets because their wives/girlfriends/daughters are obsessed with her. I don't think this moves the needle really.

My super-conspiracy theory is that there is some horse trading going on with publicists and other entities, where Taylor agrees to this fake relationship with Kelce to help boost his star, and then Taylor gets something tangible she wants, like a major licensing deal or something. Like maybe Kelce himself can't offer her much, but the people who are invested in his success might have something to offer her.

My bet: Super Bowl halftime brought to you by TS. An abbreviated Eras show. But not in 2024, but rather 2025.

OMG this is totally it. And she's going to tease out some sort of partnership with the NFL for the next 1.5 years for a stupid amount of money.

Ha! No she is not. She is much more famous and rich than he is. He needs a southern girl ready to pump out big, ogre babies who will be as dumb as rocks.

WTF it is not cool to talk about him this way. What is wrong with you people?

He is far more successful than any of the hags posting here, so joke is on them. To excel in any field, you need discipline, dedication and hard work but sure if he had gone to Pomona and studied political science that would have made him super successful in life. SMH.

+1. I also happen to think that the relationship with Alwyn was real -- it went on for a long time, and they were low key about it.

This Kelce thing looks like the Tom Hiddleston relationship -- F.A.K.E. Although at least this time he's not like a decade older than her.

Why wouldn't she? Super Bowl is the single biggest stage in the world every year.

I could see her doing it as an exclamation point to the Eras tour, which finishes up in late 2024. Most Super Bowl performers do a medley of their greatest hits and the Eras Tour is literally a GREATEST HITS tour. Totally makes sense to wrap up the tour at the Super Bowl.

I don't think she's doing it to get the halftime show. She could get it without dating Travis Kelce -- the NFL would be thrilled to have her and has probably asked her more than once already.

Maybe she's just doing it as a lark. Like she think it will be funny. I think sometimes she likes doing these weird cosplay relationships in public. Some of her friendships seem similarly fake, or like she's doing it to troll people. Like just for starters, her very public outings with Sophie Turner last week seemed like obvious troll jobs. She probably doesn't hate Sophie and maybe doing that resulted in them developing an actual bond. But the decision to be photographed going out to dinner with her multiple times in the way of Sophie's divorce news from Taylor's ex... I think Taylor just thought it would be funny to act out some of her break-up lyrics for the masses.
