I was invited to a gala out of town this coming weekend. The invitation reads:
"Tacky-formal attire desired, but normal formal is also admired." Suggestions please! |
| I have never heard of this. Wear what you want, it doesn't sound like anyone will notice. I would not go out and splurge on something for this. |
| Sounds fun! Have any old bridesmaid dresses? |
You sound like a fun one |
| bright colors, clashing accessories, etc. think helena bonham carter at the oscars. wear something fun. |
| You could look at vintage and thrift stores for something 70's or 80's. I have a rather fabulous disco-formal dress from the 70's or 80's. It looks like something Joan Collins would have worn on Dynasty. I bought it for a costume party and kind of wish I had a reason to wear it again. |

You must buy a bottle of aqua-net and starch parts of your hair--80s style.
and A pair of colored stockings to go with your ball gown. |

If you don't want to spend a lot, look at halloween princess costumes. They are on sale right now. Here's Glenda the Good Witch, which might do:

Ok, maybe I'm just tacky but I love that last one. |
| I posted it and I like it too! It Is perfectly tacky enough to be quite stylish. |
| Any time you see the words "strapless, rusching, asymetrical side ruffles and polyester" all in one single dress description you know you have a winner . . . |
