Nah, taxes are too high in MD.

You can get a rambler that's been updated in this century for $490-$525k in the town of Vienna.

When the Silver Line opens, EFC becomes doubly good, as you can get out to Tysons/Reston easily.

If you're willing to tough it out a year, you could get something in Reston, although I don't know where the SFH areas are in relation to the metro stops.

Your kidding, right? Have you been on the Orange line lately? There is always delays to Vienna.

I've been taking orange line to work for years. It's really not that bad. There are days or weeks where it does feel like you're constantly delayed, but I still don't think it's that bad. I did Vienna/Dunn Loring to DC for 12 years and now I do Ballston/VA Square to DC. I think it's more reliable than driving, personally, unless you can leave your house between 6:30/7.

That said, I'm paranoid as hell about what will happen once the Silver Line opens. I'm concerned the orange line will be ridiculously slow. we're already seeing more backups into Rosslyn.

I vote for Arlington Forest! There is still great value and the location can't be beat - very close to Ballston metro.
