You are awful! “When will it end?!” I hope you are a troll. |
A first time dog owner is asking if their dog will always do this. Why are you assuming they want it to stop? Maybe they hope it never does. |
| This is what dogs do. I would train your dog to not jump on anyone at the door, but otherwise be equally happy to see your dog. |
|
Mine did it until he lost his hearing.
So nice to have hi greet us. We miss it still |
|
My beloved beagle died last July and I automatically still look for him standing at the door when I come in.
My friends with teens and dogs always say that’s why we love our dogs more- unlike our kids, our dogs are always happy to greet us when we come home. |
| My dog stopped doing this, which is why we got a second dog. Give me my love when I walk through the door! Now they both do it! |
| If you put your spouse and your dog in the trunk of a car and drive around for an hour and then open the trunk, who's happy to see you? |
| It does end. When the dog starts getting too old or sick to muster the energy to do that and then you're really on borrowed time with your family member. Enjoy the greetings while you can and don't take them for granted. A dog's welcome and their consistent happiness to see their humans are gifts. Not sure why you don't see that and instead seem to find it annoying. |

It's normal dog behavior, OP.
If one day he doesn't, you should be concerned about his health. The rare times my 6 year old dog did not greet someone at the door, he was sick. Then when they get old, they start slowing down, of course, and may not get up to greet you, especially if they're deaf. But they'll still be happy to see you once they realize you're there. |
Agree 😢 |
| Yes, they do it until they’re too old or sick. I love it, though. Our dog was sick for a while before he passed and stopped getting up to greet us every time but his tail would still go crazy in his bed. We knew he was ready to pass when he stopped lifting his head or wagging his tail when we came home. |
What a bizarre question. |
| I would be worried if my dog didn’t do this! |
Np reread the op. They are clearly tired of ther dog giving love and affection! I personally don't know why you would want it to stop |
Same, but with my wife! Added a girlfriend and things are back on track! |
