| I was 15 when We Are the World came out and I remember back then wondering why Sheila E was there. I knew why the Jackson siblings were there (because of Michael) but Sheila...she just didnt fit. Now I know. Loved seeing the old footage and remember watching the awards show that night. Lionel wore me out with that line "Outrageous." |
I agree with you, however when the song was recorded, she was still viewed, unfairly, as an extension of Prince/his sidekick. |
A lot of it had to do with who was at the AMAs earlier in the night. Some artists were on tour (like Springsteen just wrapped up the day before). |
