New Hire Doesn't Wash Hands

Anonymous
"I wanted to talk with you privately. I overheard some coworkers gossiping that you dont' wash your hands when you come out of the bathroom. I wanted to let you know in case you forgot one time, so you can make sure to remember going forward."

That's Option 1. Option 2 is to leave an anonymous note printed saying "everyone's noticed you don't wash your hands. please make it your New Year's resolution to wash with soap after using the bathroom."

So gross and lazy. Yes, do one of these.

Put up the sign 'employees must wash hands' like service people have.

Far stretch from bad hygiene to sociopath. It's gross, but there are a lot of people out there like this and you can't change the world, so just wash your own hands, OP and try not to dwell.

Not hard to notice. I'm always surprised when people don't see anything or hear anything. I'm like the KGB.
Not, OP.

Except it doesn’t work on c.Diff. Please use the sink and soap. TY.

It doesn't REMOVE FECES particles from your hand.

OP must be a woman, because this is standard practice for men.

First off, many people assume urine is sterile.

Second, that they accomplished the maneuver without touching anything ( pull down zipper, do the job, zipper back up) -- maybe similar with OP bath mate, she pulls down pants, sits and shakes rather than wipes?

I mean, I hear their rationale, but I am a compulsive handwasher so I veer to far the other way.

Oh yeah. Like that'll make a difference. A sign. No, this person needs peer pressure.

OP, I have bad news. Many people don't wash their hands after using the bathroom. Google it.

Assuming you don't work in food service or healthcare, I'm not sure there is much you can do.

Sadly too many people don’t wash, or wash insufficiently to kill germs. Men are worse but plenty of women are gross too.

Urine isn’t sterile. Poop is definitely worse but really people wash your hands.

I’d leave an anonymous note on her desk. Or, Post hand washing posters in the bathrooms - unless they’re already up and she’s ignoring them.

That’s cause for immediate dismissal

I use hand sanitizer if there’s no lotion provided. Especially at this time of year, my hands feel so dry otherwise. Stop judging her and assume she does this too and go about your life.

Casually give her a gift of soap and hand sanitizer.
