Wegovy has been amazing for me!

I went on Wegovy in August, motivated far more by my high cholesterol than my weight. I have lost 30 lbs so far, with about 10 more to go I think.

I had my cholesterol re-tested this week and it is down so much!!! Total is down over 50 points (to 229), my triglycerides are way down, although both still high they are much closer to normal (I may have some genetic preposition for it). Chol/hdlc ratio is in normal range, hdl is only 2 pts above normal range.

I'm thrilled! I see the doc next month and we'll see what they say-I would like to lose 10 more lbs and retest in 3 months, but if they think I need to start a med, I will. But reading the report-it seems to be not far above normal range, and way less than it was!

I'm so glad I tried Wegovy. I've had minimal side effects, I've lost weight, my cholesterol is down and the 'food noise' is under control. I eat normal, healthy foods at normal, appropriate portions. My 2023 health journey is ending on a positive note.

Are you just paying out of pocket? Why did your dr prescribe it?

It was prescribed based on my BMI and comorbidity of high cholesterol.

Me too OP. I've lost 40 lbs. Plateauted out on 2.4 and am back on 1.7 losing again. I have also stopped impulse shopping and have very little desire to drink alcohol.

I've got another 30 lbs to go, but I'll get there eventually!

I love to sit with my DH and have a glass of Prosecco at the end of the week, but Wegovy makes Prosecco taste bitter. Not that I was a big drinker before (one glass on Fridays), but now I am essentially a non-drinker. Good and bad, I guess?

Same. Drank a couple bottles of wine a week. No desire anymore.

Lost 35 lbs.

Wegovy is life changing. I am so worried some ambulance chasing lawyers are going to sue and ruin it for all of us.

I get it at my local CVS off Tuckermen. Never had an issue.

No dr will prescribe for me. Just gained 15 lbs because of very high cortisol/menopause issues. Weight isn't coming off like it used to.

Brings me to BMI of 27 and my cholesterol and triglycerides are high.

The PA at the endocrinologist was really dismissive - just smiled and said, "yeah that's tough"

ugh.

What doctors are prescribing it? I know there are weight loss drs online and at clinics but I really felt like I'd prefer a local dr prescribing it.

Congratulations OP. That’s awesome.

I’m wondering about other positive outcomes. My friend on it says that her morning serious body aches are gone and they disappeared before she lost any real weight. Same with her rosacea (which I see visibly—the difference is very noticeable). I feel like there is obviously something systemic going on. She’s lost like 40 lbs. but it’s not just weight.

Likely the reduction/regulation of insulin impacts this (lowers inflammation..rosacea and joints).

+1 it's impossible to get.

Thanks, OP. Great to hear such positive results. I've tried to get insurance to cover Wegovy for my insulin resistance but no go. This year, I've decided to just max out my FSA and try for the new Montjero drug from Lilly, which will probably be $500/mo. At least with the FSA I'll get a little of that covered with pre-tax dollars.

I have 100 lbs to lose and would love to get off my high blood pressure medicine. I'm also looking at double knee replacement in the next few years because of my osteoarthritis and would love to postpone that for as long as possible since I'm only 53.

I was approved too but couldn't find it so I'm currently on Saxenda. Also seeing positive results! It's great to finally feel like I'm not constantly battling my brain over food.

I’m also around that BMI. I used a telehealth that uses a compounding pharmacy and selected for a large well established pharmacy that doesn’t have recent FDA or state regulator issues. Mine arrives in about a week - looking forward to seeing how it goes.

OP here. With your BMI being 'overweight' and the comorbidity of high cholesterol, I'm suprised they won't prescribe. I'm not local but my general doctor rx it. Why didn't the endo prescribe it for you?

No real doctor will prescribed for 15 pounds. People who need it, are getting it to lose 40, 50, and significantly more. 15 is vanity weight, you'll need a teledoc to prescribe it

I keep meaning to schedule doc appt for the same reason--cholesterol. I haven't done it yet. And I keep hearing of shortages. If I got a prescription now, would I actually be able to fill it?

I feel like I am the only person for who it has not worked. I feel zero difference. No bad side effects, but no change to how I feel or my appetite. No change in weight. It's depressing. I have 80 pounds to lose.
