Millenials don't take lunch breaks

Anonymous
When I skip lunch or take a 60 minute lunch I leave same time. If you are not in the clock lunch is not only lunch but when I go dry cleaner, eye doctors, fill a prescription, get oil change. I try to run errands to free up weekend

Same. It's called being efficient!

Xennial here, and I slightly look down on people who take daily full one-hour lunch breaks. They strike me as lazy.

lol- a millennial, who can’t even spell “millennial” correctly, is going to brag about getting their work done faster. They probably don’t even realize that their work day has already built in the lunch time so they owe it either way.

I wasn't paid from 12 - 1. I ate my lunch, went for a walk or did errands. I didn't often take a coffee break, though until I had a supervisor I couldn't stand. I needed those two 15 minute breaks to save my sanity.

This can't happen if you work in somewhere like Suitland or other places where the gov't likes to locate its facilities.

The bad part is that we’re required to take a 30 min unpaid lunch break and have to work 8.5 hours. I’ve debated quitting so I wouldn’t have to deal with that anymore. It will absolutely be something I ask about in job interviews. They basically get a free 30 min out of me daily.

I’m in the same boat! Wish I could just work through that half hour and leave early

+1 I started eating at my desk more once I had kids so I could get home earlier.

Millennials don’t care about lunch breaks at all.

Gen X here and the reason I go to lunch is bc I can’t leave earlier if I skip lunch. Those days ended long ago for me. No one is watching me but last minute meetings or spending all day in meetings and the. getting a few things wrapped up happen late in the day

Unless your workplace will let you leave early if you don't take lunch, that's smart.

Pp here. They all have different lunch times. How is a coworker supposed to know? Some like 11:30, 12, or even 2pm. I feel like anytime I message people they’re on lunch.

I WAH and absolutely use my work break to exercise/shower or get chores done or meet a friend for lunch. If I take a little longer mid day I just work a bit later. When my kids are in school is when I can get stuff like this done.

But I’m required to take an hour lunch break so I’m taking it. I’d love to leave an hour earlier.

Heh, yes. Some may be scamming you. We had a secretary who would take lunch at 11:30 and slip in a second lunch at 2.

😳 Who even has the opportunity to take a lunch break? Noon is everyone's favorite time to throw a meeting on my calendar.

I split my day into two parts with a 2-3 hour stretch of time between 1-4 that I often use for personal stuff. Then I get back to work for a couple of hours. I start early, like 6/7.

A 9-5 workday is archaic and I find less productive than a day set up like mine. Anyone remember that awful 3PM slump from the before times when we all sat in our offices for exactly 8.5 hours every day? With a long break I get two “peaks” of productivity in my day.
