Do adult women use hair accessories anymore?

I often pull the hair in the front of my face on top of my head and secure in a barrette. I can't stand hair in my face when I am trying to concentrate on something. I get compliments when I wear it like that. I also have no problem with leaving the house with my hair in a scruncie bun of pony -- no compliments with that lol.

So I don't really use hair accessories to decorate myself, I use them to secure hair.

No that I'm menopausal I've started wearing clips again. Half updos seem to distract from my sagging jowls.

I think I'm getting old enough where it doesn't matter if it looks young.

I never see headbands anymore...except for crystal things that I think are for prom and bridal.

I did go to a craft fair and there was a vendor there from a franchise company selling hair clips at a brisk rate.

I do see hair clips being worn by women who both need them and take obvious pride in having a stylish hairdo.

I also see bun skewers (not sure what they are called...the hatpin/chopstick type sticks).

I was in Japan this summer and all the middle aged women like me who had medium to long hair were wearing simple barrettes, exaggerated hair baubles or slides over ponytails or hair pulled half-back. There were affordable ones at a lot of stores so I brought back a few. I notice that they only look fresh and modern if I wear them with really contemporary cuts of clothing and keep my hair sleek. If I wear them with my plainer work clothes or preppier clothes or am having a frizzy hair day, it makes me look dated and ancient.

My DD and her friends are crazy for all sorts of fun hair clips but I can’t wear the kind they’re wearing or I look like an extra in She’s All That.

I wear ponytail holders in a color that matches my hair. Same with my barrette. My headband is black (hair is dark brown). But I only wear the headband when working out. My clip is brown tortoiseshell.

I'm 47 and have never been someone to wear my hair down.

I like headbands and love when they trend around like the russian tiara ones a few years back.

Other than that, it's pony pony pony and sometimes clips.

Headbands are in. Heck I think even Kate Middleton wore one recently.

Scrunchies and hair ties are still around but I guess those don’t count as accessories?

She's in a midlife crisis. It's a cry for help.

Female British royals are required to wear hats. Example disqualified.

My hair is usually up in two space buns secured with whatever hair ties or twisted and secured with a French hair pin. I have 6 or 7 of the hair pins in differenr colors and materials.

As a brunette, I have a variety of tortoise shell barrettes to pull back one side or do a half-up hairdo. I’m in my 40s with long, thick Pantene commercial hair. I prefer my hair down or in a sleek pony with a bit of hair wrapped around to hide a clear band - but sometimes I need barrettes to add volume to flat hair or to keep it from getting tangled or being distracting if it’s windy and I am outside.

I bought a houndstooth headband this winter. Have worn it a few times. It looks great.

Clips, pins, and combs, yes.

I associate headbands with preppy or semi-frum women.

If I pull it back (shoulder length hair) it's with a hair tie that matches my hair or with bobby pins that match my hair. I have one ficcare clip for a french twist that I use occasionally.
