13? No.
16? Possibly. |
| That’s crazy. No. |
|
I think it's cute. Only you can decide if it is too much honestly and it's likely a function of what all the other 13-year-olds in her class are going to get.
But, I'd probably buy it and make it the 'large' gift and everything else is smaller or stocking stuffer. |
| Get her a ripoff version for $30. |
|
Ask her why she wants it. If you agree with her and can afford it, why not? If she can’t explain why, hold out until she can.
My kids eat that much in groceries anyways. If she wants the hide instead of the meat, that’s on her. Just as long as she is able to appreciate what she has and doesn’t act all entitled, I’m personally okay with that. |
| Hell no |
| If this is in the Christmas budget, I might also walk her through the other trade-offs. Make sure she understands that this gift takes the place of multiple other smaller things. If she still wants it and it's in the budget I'd tend to say sure (though agree with others on the no taking it to school). |
| If she goes to a school that has a theft problem with Canada Goose and Moncler, that means she goes to a school where kids wear those brands. And in that case this looks positive affordable (and unlike a coat, at least she won't grow out of it!) |

Amazon has some excellent dupes. If she's in it for the status they're probably a no-go, but if she just genuinely likes the look this could suffice...

| Your rich and can afford it, so why not? |
Middle school is full of fleeting trends, that the inferior quality of a ripoff won't matter. If she's smart, she'd choose this bag with $300 cash inside over the real thing. |

for me, it's a no, dawg.
i have seen how quickly teens change their minds and i wouldn't waste money on this. i would be ticked to see it either not used or tossed aside in a short time. if she gets money as presents from some relatives, she can decide if she really wants to spend it on that. funny how much you HAVE to HAVE something depends on whether or not you are spending your own money. i also do not go along with buying all the latest trendy/name brand/showy/expensive things. i would prefer to send the message that those things are not important. |
| I wouldn’t spend that much on a handbag for myself! But that being said, it’s a gift, and I spent almost $300 for a huge Lego set for Christmas this year for my 13 year old. It’s what he wanted, and it’s his main gift. If the handbag is what she wants, the price alone doesn’t sound that bad to me. (Our HHI is $325 FWIW). |
+1. I didn’t see your post and was about to post one from DH gate. I would buy a knock off. I’m sure there are tons on Temu too. Before people complain about China, most of the stuff on Amazon is made there anyway. Where do you live where your 13 yo wants to carry this? Mine won’t carry anything now and insists she only needs Apple Pay or money in the case. |
| Hey no. Maybe in college. |
