President Ryan on why it matters:

Stanford and Duke had 0 this year, just further confirms UVA>Stanford and Duke. And you best believe Stanford and Duke were trying just as hard to get Rhodes Scholars. |
Yea UVA can hang with top privates. |
UGA got one too. Best public Ivy! Go Dawgs! |
LOL. They select from the same level schools. |
Stuyvesant High School's alumni assoc posts Rhodes Scholars and they have one or two about every year. Does it matter where they went to college? Not sure. |
LOL. It was just 1 year, not really a big sample size. Stanford and Duke do more than fine for prestigious postgrad scholarships: https://www.k-state.edu/about/scholars/NationalScholarsRankingChart2017%20allschools.pdf From 1986-2017: 1. Harvard 2. Yale 3. Stanford 4. Princeton 5. Duke 6. MIT ... ??? UVA (not listed in top 10) |
UVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
University of Virginia has had 57 Rhodes Scholarship winners. That’s the most of any college or university in the South, the eighth most of any school overall, and the third most of any non-Ivy League university. |
You must be very proud! |
WVU, Montona, MS... much more impressive than UVA, IMO, because those universities aren't known for their strong academics. |
9 from Harvard this year. Wow. |
Harvard 359 Rhodes Scholars
UVA 53 Rhodes Scholars Berra College 1 Nobel Prize Winner UVA 0 Nobel prize winners |
Which just goes to prove that Rhodes Scholars don’t always attend prestigious universities. It’s a nice accolade to brag about, but really isn’t important when ranking universities. |
