That looks super practical, but it's $80! Almost as much as the car seat itself!
Folding luggage wheels would work just as well, no? And for a third the price. |
| The Cosco Scenara is $40 and comes in a little plastic carrying case with a handle. Very lightweight. Great travel seat if your child still fits within its weight/height limits. |
I just got back from our first trip using this, and it worked great. We had an old cheap roll-aboard and it was straining under the weight of the car seat and baby, but it survived. If I was going to use this more regularly I'd splurge for a nicer suitcase. |

I don't have a product to recommend, but FWIW, taking our big carseat on the plane was a terrible experience, so we're checking it on an upcoming trip and using the CARES harness. We also have a connecting flight, but we're going to have to take that gamble. (Last time I could NOT get the car seat out of the plane--they had to call a mechanic to do it. And I was left with bruises all over my arms from trying to finagle the thing.)
We had one of those backpack things, which made the seat easy to carry around the airport, but it was still so big that it was difficult to carry ON the plane (and up and down little stairs to the plane, which we had to do several times). |

I thought you couldn't you any harness type (CARES) on planes? |

I've flown internationally (14-22 hours) with almost all the options - Peg stroller/car seat combo, GoGo Babies, backpack carrier with umbrella stroller, and CARES.
GoGoBabies is the best if you must have the car seat - moves the kid all over the airport, doesn't have to be removed to put in plane seat. We rolled our DD all over Frankfurt during a long layover - it was the best! If you can check the car seat, and your child is old enough, CARES is soo much easier! Check the car seat in the backpack carrier bag and away you go. So happy my youngest is old enough for it now!
