2025 is a great team, with lots NoVA talent and some kids who actually come over the bridge from MD to play. Families are great, truly.
Nextlevel blue is the best 25 team in the area and is absolutely loaded but VLC gets the kids in best tournaments and coaching is very good. Your son will be seen and recruited here versus some of the other northern VA club teams. Luckily there is a place for every kind of player in the DMV and VLC is absolutely top 3-4 program. |
OP here. I used to live in Virginia (years ago) and getting over the American Legion bridge was horrible. Have things improved? Whenever I’ve had to drive through on 95 (we live in NJ now) it’s really terrible between Baltimore and Richmond. Like bad enough that we try to plan our stretch through that area either late at night or early in the morning. |
OP, you are asking about a 2025 team. That’s a high school team and usually practices on weekends. Traffic on weekends is not as bad as 3.30-6pm on weekdays. Having said that, it also depends on where you live in Virginia. If you are in Arlington/McLean area, it might be just as easy to go into Bethesda area as Sterling/Herndon. If you live west or south of the northeastern tip of VA, you might want to consider one of the VA clubs. |
| VLC doesn't field teams Senior year so I don't know how much stability you're going to get. |
| As a 2025 you only have 2 summers left. Unless your son is already being recruited you are going to have to call every club and see who has an opening. It’s really tough for a kid to make it on a competitive team after 9th grade unless he has some kind of introduction |
I’m not worried about him making the team. |

While this thread has created some solid comedy -- much appreciated , I am now convinced the OP has some connection to VLC or is just trying to create incite some folks
A few things 1) If his son was truly a top player in New Jersey, he would know who the top DMV team are 2) If his son was serious about playing D1 lacrosse, he wouldn't be leaving his club before his recruiting summer 3) If his son was truly a top player, his former team would be fine with him playing as an out of state player. I know several out of state players on top jersey teams. |
| Agree OP is a troll or a semi troll. |
OP here. This is not Benghazi there is no conspiracy here. My son plays on a national team and will continue to do so, for as long ad he’s invited back. This is where he gets looked at by college coaches if that is the path he chooses. I truly know nothing about Virginia teams (have literally not even played one since he was very young in Hershey) and am not looking for a club team with “exposure” at this juncture since we already have that covered. Nowhere have I asked about what club is the “best”, nor have I inquired about clubs in the “DMV”. I think I was pretty clear about Virginia. My son just enjoys playing and doesn’t just want to ONLY play with his national team. He also straddles 2 clubs in NJ, club and national. Is it not common in the “DMV” to play national teams and then local clubs? We’ve been on this circuit for awhile , and I have a kid who plays in college and in our world it’s common to hop on and off national teams for college exposure. |

DC area is not like jersey when it comes to club. Sounds like you play BBL, which has played all the main DC clubs.
From what you have written, your best bet is to figure out which club team his HS teammates play for and go there. If it's a FCPS, likely VLC or Top Caliber, ACPS would include the former two and add in True. If out west, Hammers would be another option to consider. With the top 3 clubs (NL, ML, DCE) if your kid can play, he will be added. From a social standpoint, if you are a member at Congressional, Columbia, or Burning Tree you will have friends on those 3 teams. |
Not a member at any of those clubs. |
Honestly, for a talented kid, it is not that hard to get added to NL,ML or DCE. Ever seeing the field is a different thing all together. All of those clubs have massive rosters and many talented kids only play in blowouts. |
| Why do you want to play on a VA club, which is just for recruiting, if he's already on a nat team? Hitting the wall and private lessons and working out with one of the pro football players who trains kids around here would be more productive. |
Not the OP, but my son does this. He just loves to play lacrosse and loves to play with his friends. He understands that playing for a national team (which mine does) has a role to play in his development and growth but sometimes he just wants to be a kid and play with his friends. But, I also understand where you are coming from. |
