That Humanities class at Landon does sound great--heard about it from a current junior who is a great kid. I think there's a lot of good at Landon, but also think they need to fix their governance structure. I would think a lot of administrators would think twice about going there unless and until the Board let's the school leaders lead and doesn't interfere as much.
Previous poster--I thank you for your thoughtful and kind comments. People have to accept that when their kids do something wrong, you don't run interference for them. That has happened at Landon, and it has hurt the school. Too bad, too, as Landon has some of the best teachers anywhere--Mr. Chipsy in the best sense, utterly devoted. They don't deserve the bad publicity the school has gotten lately. A window on the problem is a little film--The Emperor's Club, starring Kevin Klein, an apparent favorite with Landon faculty a few years ago.
That is interesting, PP.
My kid went to Holton for 6 years and she never had any dealings with anyone from Landon. It's not within walking distance from Holton -- thus the "brother-sister" thing is not real. There used to be some class offerings together...but now the 2 schools have different schedules. Holton is in a league above Landon in all of the rankings and college admissions. Landon does get some kids into good schools through athletic recruting however.
