Cayenne pepper? What else?
Someone has been letting their dog shit on my yard and not cleaned up at all. At this point I don't care if it hurts the dog's paws - the owner should do better if they care about their animal. What else can I put down? |
|
Oh, please don’t put something down that will hurt the dogs paws. It’s not the dog, it’s the owner.
Can you put up a camera and maybe blast the owners face on next-door or your neighborhood group? “Hurt “the owner, not the dog.

No, I'm not going to spend money to add another camera. My ring is too far away.
Agree it's the owner, not the dog. But also not my problem that the owner is an ahole. |

If you put up a very short border fence edging (eg one of those wire or plastic ones that comes up about 6 inches) or add a rock border to the edge of your yard, that is most effective. Dogs will generally respect a physical border like that even if it’s largely symbolic.
Cayenne will only bother the squirrels and rabbits. a dog is not gojng to care.. I also agree with PP that this more a human problem than a dog problem. You need to find the human that is not picking up and make clear this is unacceptable. |
| A fence. |

Watch for them and confront them.
If the owner isn’t picking up after the dog, the poor dog is likely already neglected at best. Please don’t try to hurt the dog. |
| A fence and a sign telling them that dogs aren't welcome. Or a sign that says chemicals have been applied. As a dog owner, I am very respectful of yards with those signs. PLEASE dont injure the dog. BTW, intentionally hurting animals is against the law. For you. |
| Fence your yard if this is something that’s so important to you. Otherwise, dogs are gonna dog. |
On private property? No, it's not. |
Dogs may dog, but owners don't have to be aholes. Pick up after your dog, especially when trespassing on someone's property. |
That’s your only solution. I watched a couple walking their dog. The dog shatted, the woman took her bag out and went thru the motions of picking up the poop. I mean arm out, bent over the poop as if she was picking it up, turned her bag inside out as if she gathered the shit. And left it there. I was so appalled. I said why aren’t you picking it up. She pretended like she didn't hear me and started walking towards the man and dog. I followed them and asked her again. She went to pick it up. Mind you this wasn't on my property but at the grass at the curb, but still. I wasn’t letting up. |
