We've tried plywood but it got gross and even bleach or pressure washing will help enough to not be embarrassed about it.
What is best for really low maintenance fully exposed outdoor furniture? Ideally looking for table with 6-8 chairs. I don't need a sofa/anything with fabric. |
| I’d buy covers. The furniture underneath looks great. I haven’t cleaned it other than a wipe down in 5 years |
*Polywood |
| Yep polywood. No maintenance and lasts forever. |
I'm the OP. We tried polywood but about a year later it is incredibly gross and we've tried cleaning it as they suggest and then with bleach and even power washing it and it is still gross. So, I'm looking for something else. |
| Mesh from Brown Jordan. |
| Our polywood has held up beautifully for 3+ years - on an outdoor covered porch. |
What color and is it actual Polywood or an imitation (not trying to be snarky just curious as there are so many options around). I have Polybrand brand chairs and tables in the sand color and they’ve held up incredibly well. Very easy to clean but the color is so neutral that is also hides a lot. I’m wondering if some of the darker colors would be harder to keep clean. |
This — it’s expensive but we leave it out year round and just wash it in the spring and it looks great. After about 20 years we had to replace the mesh. |
That’s odd. I live part time at the beach so furniture takes a beating. Everyone has polywood and no one complains. I’ve had it mine for more than a decade and it still looks great. |

I have the room and board Kona table (larger size, it’s metal with drainage holes), Aruba chairs with sunbrella fabric (also metal), and 9’ Oahu umbrella. No maintenance needed at all. I love all of it.
They delivered, set everything up, and took away the packaging. I used their design services to confirm I was getting the right table size and # of chairs. https://www.roomandboard.com/catalog/outdoor/tables/kona-tables/636459 |
Adding that the Aruba chairs are also very comfortable without the cushions, if you prefer to skip |
We purchased black polywood chairs, they look great after 6 years in the sun, rain and snow. Maybe the lighter colors are the problem. |
I have my parents' Brown Jordan set from the '70s - we leave it out year-round fully exposed and it keeps on truckin'. |
We have medium-light gray plywood chairs and they also look great with zero maintenance. |
