DD and her friend applied to both schools RD and DD didn't get interview and has a slight better stat and both in DMV area, does that mean rejection?

My kid had no interview with NU and was accepted. I think it's more about interviewer availability.

Thanks for responding. Is it for this year or last year?

It means the AOs felt like they had enough information to make a decision.

DD is worried just because she didn't get an interview but Harvard website confirms what you stated.

Generally true for Yale.

My kid had interviews but there was no way he was getting in.

This whole process is unpredictable not sure why they at least don't give a chance for interview before rejecting. How is that fair when some students with lower stat get interview while others don't?

Generally true for Yale.

But FAQ regarding interview on their website has the following

Is my application disadvantaged because I was not offered an interview?

No. Interviews are not required, and many successful applicants are not interviewed

Yale AO on podcast says Yale apps are put in 3 piles:
1. Absolute yes; exceeds all metrics; maybe a likely letter (will not get interview)
2. Definite no (will not get interview)
3. On the cusp….unsure. Will get interview if interviewers are available in region.

My kid didn’t get a Yale interview either. He was not a #1….

If your kids’ friends with lower stats got interview, I’d assume your kid was not a #1?

But who knows? And lots of Yale Interviewers in DC
