| Anyone ever go through a phase where kid was not particularly motivated with getting up and dressed first thing in the morning? If there isn’t any school do you let them stay in bed longer? |
| We give a half hour of grace when there's no school if they want it. |
|
If we don't have places to be I don't care really. I do like them to get dressed, but sometimes that doesn't happen until lunchtime. Oh well.
Why do they need to get up and dressed? What are weekends for if not for resting? |
How generous.... |
| They usually get up anyway because they need to use the bathroom in the morning. |
This makes it easier to get back on schedule for school. |
This. My main thing is they need to brush teeth after breakfast. But if we aren't going anywhere, I don't care if they get dressed before we do (I sometimes wear my pajamas, which are basically joggers and a t shirt, well into the morning on a weekend). If they sleep in late, I assume they are not feeling well or need the rest and I'll check on them and sometimes take a temperature, but I don't force them to get up. I don't believe that resting or being slow to get moving is "laziness." I think it's often a response to being too busy and not getting enough relaxation and downtime at other times. If it was linked to staying up too late, I would address the staying up, not the sleeping in. I want healthy habits, which means getting plenty of rest. It does not automatically mean getting up early and being dressed and ready to leave the house by 8am. |
Or else what happens |
After grace period OP runs into kid’s room banging pots and pans. |
I believe this. |
| How many have their kids take a shower in the morning instead of in the evening before bed? |
We wake them up to start the day. |
|
| My kids don't get enough sleep during the week so we let them sleep in on the weekends. My son has to catch the bus at 645. Once a month I end up driving him; I get it, it's early. |
+1. Why wouldn’t you let them rest? |
