If we don't have places to be I don't care really. I do like them to get dressed, but sometimes that doesn't happen until lunchtime. Oh well. Why do they need to get up and dressed? What are weekends for if not for resting?
This. My main thing is they need to brush teeth after breakfast. But if we aren't going anywhere, I don't care if they get dressed before we do (I sometimes wear my pajamas, which are basically joggers and a t shirt, well into the morning on a weekend). If they sleep in late, I assume they are not feeling well or need the rest and I'll check on them and sometimes take a temperature, but I don't force them to get up. I don't believe that resting or being slow to get moving is "laziness." I think it's often a response to being too busy and not getting enough relaxation and downtime at other times. If it was linked to staying up too late, I would address the staying up, not the sleeping in. I want healthy habits, which means getting plenty of rest. It does not automatically mean getting up early and being dressed and ready to leave the house by 8am.
