We're located in Fairfax County and deciding between a few schools. Mines is a top choice but also considering UMD, Purdue, U of SC and a few RDs that have not come in.
Major: Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering Looking to possibly connect with anyone who is thinking about heading to CO in the fall. |
|
If that is the definitive major choice then I would visit and see if it is a fit. I’d be between Purdue and Mines based in outcomes after graduation.
Can’t change out of engineering there, though. |
He has been out to visit Mines and plans to go see Purdue next. Thank you for your response. |
| It’s a very good school but I know a few kids have turned it down because of the gender imbalance. |
|
We're in the same boat (sort of).
Trying to choose between CSM, VTech and (fingers crossed) UMich. All OOS, we're in MD, got rejected from UMD. Mechanical Engineering Any thoughts welcome |
CO is heads and tails better than Univ of SC that should not be on the list. No job is coming from that. UMD or Colorado School of mines even Purdue is a no. |
Really? Why UMD over Purdue? |
|
You probably know this, OP, but CO School of Mines only offers aerospace engineering as a minor. Mechanical as a major with aerospace as a minor is a good combination.
DS went to Mines. He had a good experience and loved the surrounding environment (he enjoys hiking and skiing). He and his closest friends have done very well in terms of graduate school and high-paying jobs. Mines has been adding some beautiful new buildings lately. This one is opening in a few days: https://www.minesnewsroom.com/news/labriola-innovation-district-opens-feb-9-colorado-school-mines-campus |
Why would UMD or Mines be preferred over Purdue? |
Yes, we're aware and that is being considered. Thank you for your response. |
| His Tinder game better be strong because there ain't many foyine girlz on campus at Mines. Otherwise it's an underrated engineering school in a breathtaking location. |
While Mines might not have as many dating prospects as some other campuses, the focus is more on studies and personal growth at the moment. Besides, with a scenic campus like Mines, there's plenty to appreciate beyond just the dating scene. Thanks for the perspective! Finding foyine girlz is not the priority while on campus. |
LOL. This sounds like a mom imputing her wants onto her son. "My baby boy just wants to study, make good grades, follow the rules, and appreciate the natural beauty of his surroundings." Yeah, right. That's what HE wants. Sure. I've never met an 18-year-old boy who doesn't want to chase girlz (except those who roll the other way). |
Is Mines good for those who roll the other way? |
Not sure about the school itself, but the Denver region is known to be gay-friendly. |
